A Delicious Delight
A lyrical Lyra tale, multi layered like the aleithiometer, that resonates in my heart-mind. So many characters I warmed to, who built a wee kingdom in this readers inner world..

Good book
Great series, enjoyed all three. Spoilers, would have liked a bit more detail for what happened to some of the minor characters, other than that a great listen. Very well performed.

Loved it.
The whole cast was amazing. I truly loved this series and got well caught up in the magic of these books. I can see why "the church" was upset about it, but it wouldn't be the first time nor will it be the last that a religion will be used in a book, or be seen as potentially evil in a book. I wouldn't take that part too seriously in my day to day life. I loved how the series was wound up too. Too many series end almost straight after the big battle leaving alot of questions to mind but this answered all the pressing ones. I thoroughly enjoyed this Audio book series.

Excellent!
Absolutely love this series. The full cast narration is really enjoyable and easy to listen to.
The Amber Spyglass is my favourite book of the series.

Outstanding book.
The conclusion of this trilogy fuses philosophy, poetry and adventure. It is truly one of the great fantasy / adventure books of English literature. Lyra, Will, Serafina Pekkala, Iorek Bernstein will live with me forever. Beautifully read and realised too.

Christian’s beware. Not suitable for us. DNF due to anti-God rhetoric
I mean I am slow. Face palm. The main characters literally have their souls outside themselves and they call them ‘demons’ but still I made it through the first 2 books thinking ‘it’s ok, it’s ok’. This third book is very much more obviously anti God and pro the other guys… the ‘dark-side’ ie Satan and co. Eeek I feel dirty now after listening so long. I did read review comments looking for Christian warnings (which I didn’t find) so I am leaving this here so Christians will know. I wish I’d googled these books before I wasted my credits especially this third one 😭

Not a kids book
I’m glad I listened with my daughter…the concepts aren’t really appropriate. It gets weird. I’d recommend waiting for teens. Good voice acting though.

Interesting concept - frustrating narrative devices
The series is an interesting concept, but this book in particular had a number of very frustrating plot devices like plot induced stupidity. Multiple characters act uncharacteristically and generally unreasonably in order to create a conflict that drives the plot forward. The ending was also generally unsatisfying and there were a number of loose ends and inconsistencies in the world building which are a bit disappointing. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend the series.
