About this listen
As a guild bartender, I can handle pretty much anything - mages, sorcerers, witches, the occasional demon. But show me anything family-related and I'd rather run for the hills. It doesn't even have to be my family.
So I have no idea why I thought spending the holidays with Aaron's mom and pop was a good idea.
Meeting his famous parents is already terrifying enough, but I've got a bigger problem. Students of his family's renowned mage academy are being attacked on the grounds - and somehow no one has seen a single assailant? Unexplained tracks litter the nearby woods, rumors of forbidden alchemy are circulating the campus...and Ezra has been acting strangely since we arrived.
Something deadly is brewing in the shadow of Sinclair Academy, and the longer we take to uncover it, the more dangerous it becomes. But no matter the risk, we'll protect the students.
And Aaron's parents too, I suppose. If we have to.
Make sure to check out the companion series, The Guild Codex: Demonized, available now, and The Guild Codex: Warped, coauthored by Rob Jacobsen.

love this book
This book made me laugh, sigh, squeak with happiness and cry uncontrollably. What a rollercoaster ride! Another amazing book by Annette Marie. I loved getting to know more about Aaron.
Chis Dukehart did an fantastic job, she is an outstanding narrator.

Great addition
I think this is one of my favourite books in the series aside from the first one.
I am enjoying the development of Tori and Ezra and am really keen for more of that.
The stories are slightly darker and I kind of miss the more bad arse heroine that we saw in the first book but it’s still great.
I really like how each book wraps up the main story by the end of it whilst these later books also start to weave developing storyline’s that push the series forward and keep you invested.
I think these books are good for a wife age range which is nice but I am hoping that the romance aspect will develop more in the next instalments.

Still good, but getting predictable.
Following the same story of Tori and her three hot male magic besties through their adventures.
The narration is top shelf.
This story became a little predictable and no real plot twists. I thought that an M4 would have been a better gift than a paintball gun in this situation.
A decent lead up to future plot developments.
You'll listen to this because you're hooked on the series anyway.
Enjoy!!

A dissapointing new chapter
Not up to the standards of earlier books. Weaker writing, less interesting & more stereotyped plot. I think quality over quantity would be a better rule for Annette when writing these books. There are 2 key plot points that are worth knowing as we continue on to the next book, but perhaps those can be caught up on by reading an external quick book summary. Still, there remains some pleasant humour and friendly banter which was enjoyable.
