About this listen

They asked Amber to become a magical girl three times.

She refused. That only made her more interesting.

The fourth time, she asked them.

Likeable protagonist, fun setting, good narration

I had a lot of fun with The Agartha Loop. I think my favourite thing about it is that it's an interesting take on the notion of magical girls that manages to play around with and subvert expectations, without ever coming off like it dislikes the genre, which is a fine line to tread.

It has a great cast, including a fish out of the water protagonist who is never quite so clueless as to annoy, and who actually seems to do her best to understand and participate in the world she's been thrust into. Also refreshing is that she possesses actual, functioning social skills, and the emotional intelligence to meet people where they're at and skipping the drama.

Also deserving of praise is Tess Irondale, as the narrator - as always, she did a fantastic job, differentiating all the characters well and delivering on emotions.

Timey wimey

Get ready for a bit of magical girl acadamey dashed with time shenanagins and sprinkled with bit of mystery.
All wrapped up in Pantaloons and a hat.

Honestly I really enjoy Ravensdagger's work. This story is more in the wholesome range, rather than overly grewsome.

There is setup for character development.
some fun banter and some good world building (as always).

while I was annoyed that
**--spoiler-- she doesnt get to talk to her dad and doesn't make much of an attempt to (like heck she has online video call classes but can't videocall her dad) and am also frustraighted with the ending of the book--------**
I overall can't complain.

I look forward to book 2
