About this listen

The next thrilling instalment in the Women's Murder Club series.

After a dramatic shoot out at a ferry dock, Detective Lindsay Boxer is called to the scene to find that three people have been killed, and one of her closest friends, Claire, has been shot and lies bleeding, whilst the murderer is on the run. Lindsay promises Claire that she'll hunt down this killer and bring him to justice, but sadly, it doesn't prove to be so straightforward.

A man comes forward claiming to be the ferry murderer, and Yuki Castellano, one of the Women's Murder Club, prepares to set out the charges against him. But it's not all over; a child has been abducted and is still missing. To increase the mystery and confusion, there are a series of suspicious and unexplained deaths in the building where Cindy lives - yet another of the Women's Murder Club is in danger. Lindsay discovers yet more abducted children, and the hunt begins in earnest to return the children to their parents.

Poor reading ruining great story

The reader really destroys this story and the previous character insight created by the earlier reader. The lack of inflection, the different pronunciation of key characters and the introduction of unnecessary audio intro at each chapter start detracts hugely from an otherwise great novel.

Terrible Narrator

Not even half an hour in to the book and I struggled to listen to anymore. The narrator is terrible, has a one tone voice and totally unbelievable when in character. I listened to all 5 stories so far, but I'm sorry Carolyn McCormick, you have murdered what could have been a good book!

Annoying music

The music was very annoying and overly dramatic. It detracted from the story and definitely decreased my enjoyment

loved this book but music??

I really love this series but struggled with the addition of dramatic music - for me it took away from the plot and writing

Great story reading average

The story is great as always seen by James Patterson.
the recording of the story had long gaps left between chapters.
The lady reading is ok but not the best I’ve head read his books and that lets the book down a bit.
Over all though I mostly enjoyed the book.

The narration sux

I wasn't much of a fan of the narrator of the last 5 books but she was 5 stars compared to this one🙄. This book sounds like it is being read by a robot or Siri. Omg so bad!!!! I love the stories but this narrator drones. The sound effects added are also very annoying

Narration was awful

Great story if you can get past the narration being terrible. Wrong character pronunciations in comparison to previous 5 books. I just heard the narrator pronounce short lived, short “l-eye-ved” and I just can’t. Very disappointed!

Disappointing!!

Loved the story line, did not enjoy the reader, or the annoying music at the beginning of every short chapter (that was almost as long as the chapters)!
Why announce so many very short chapters?
Too much time wasted trying to make the book seem longer, did not do it for me.
I would have sent the book back, except for the author.
