A book for anyone with children in their lives.

Dr Billy Garvey has written a very important book for anyone with children in their lives. Written and shared so beautifully, he offers science based information and practical advice for parents, caregivers and educators on how to support the children in our community. This man is doing such incredible things for our community and I eagerly await to read his future works. Recommending to all the parents, caregivers and educators in my life. I hope to implement all his advice in my role as a high school teacher.

Empowering Parents through Stories

I found this book because our paediatrician recommended Dr Billy Garvey’s podcast “Popculture Parenting” and it has been a game changer in our parenting. This book is amazing! It stands alone or as a great adjunct to the podcast. This book is heartfelt and it encourages parents while giving practical tips. It has transformed our parenting from survival mode to thriving and we are enjoying our children again. Thank you Dr Billy!

Key ingredients to ensure your kids mental health

I listened to this book in one sitting. Being a new mum, and someone who has suffered with mental health my entire life, I want to make sure I do my best to ensure my daughter doesn't suffer the way I did. I love Dr Billy's podcast too and listen religiously. This book coincides with his consistent overall message- there are no bad kids, the recovery is most important (this takes the crushing pressure off being perfect) and how important it is to remember that you can't pour from an empty cup. Looking after yourself is key in looking after your kids.
I'm also an early childhood educator and have been a Director in an early childhood service, and I love that as a Developmental Paediatrician, Dr Billy is constantly reminding us how important Early Childhood educators are.
Love this book so much and will be recommending to everyone I know, as I do the podcast. Thanks Dr Billy! You're more special than you'll ever realise.

Heartfelt and beautifully read.

The genuine emotion heard in Dr Billy’s voice whilst narrating some of the stories/experiences was beautiful and brought me to the brink of tears, several times.
I thought it was such a wonderful, meaningful and important read. Loved the happy outcomes of some of the example stories used.
Definitely a few a-ha moments for me to use in my own parenting practice.
A general great reminder of the crucial role we play in our children’s lives and in the ongoing, ever-changing, thankfully repairable development of their mental health (and the importance of our own!). Great strategies.
This book gives hope.
Well done 👏
