About this listen
Children of all ages are grappling with anxiety, depression, low self-esteem and behavioural issues and it can take years to see an expert who can help them.
Dr Billy Garvey is a senior specialist at one of the world's biggest and most prestigious paediatric hospitals. With over twenty years' experience working with families, he wants to reassure parents that there is no such thing as a bad child and that much of what he tells families in clinic is based on the same principles he outlines in this book. Regardless of whether you have a young child or a teen on the brink of adulthood, by understanding the foundations of good mental health you will be able to help them to thrive at any stage in their development.

A book for anyone with children in their lives.
Dr Billy Garvey has written a very important book for anyone with children in their lives. Written and shared so beautifully, he offers science based information and practical advice for parents, caregivers and educators on how to support the children in our community. This man is doing such incredible things for our community and I eagerly await to read his future works. Recommending to all the parents, caregivers and educators in my life. I hope to implement all his advice in my role as a high school teacher.

Empowering Parents through Stories
I found this book because our paediatrician recommended Dr Billy Garvey’s podcast “Popculture Parenting” and it has been a game changer in our parenting. This book is amazing! It stands alone or as a great adjunct to the podcast. This book is heartfelt and it encourages parents while giving practical tips. It has transformed our parenting from survival mode to thriving and we are enjoying our children again. Thank you Dr Billy!

The book every parent should read
What a phenomenal book. Every parent should be given this when leaving hospital. It guides the reader to learn, put in place and reflect on skills to be developed to help our next generation.
Every one who has a child, is involved with a child, works with children or ever was a child needs to read it.

Practical and Easy to read
Dr Billy as per usual nothing short of amazing. Lots of practical tips and such an easy read/ listen. I’ll be listening to this book for the second time now and will be taking notes. Might even be worth a hard copy to highlight and bookmark. Thanks for all the amazing work you do.

This book is brilliant
With all the data out about children and mental health, I still found his messages novel. He is careful to nuance situations and anxiety vs diagnose in a world that labels everything. Case studies keep you engaged, but the simplicity of the messages ensure you learn.

Resonance
The narratives in this book will resonate with all parents. Like the title suggests. Dr Garvie explains child behaviour so well. As he has his own story as well as his experience and expertise in this field. A must read. So much to give and receive here. Thank you Dr G

A must read for all parents
This book is so powerful focusing on the importance of kids and adult mental health giving parents an understanding of seeing the world from their child’s eyes and the importance of connection. I learned so much and hope I can implement these tools into my parenting. I would recommend this read to any parent no matter the age of your child.
