About this listen
"A provocative, exciting, and important rallying cry to reassert our human spirit of community and teamwork." (Walter Isaacson)
Though created by humans, our technologies, markets, and institutions often contain an antihuman agenda. Douglas Rushkoff, digital theorist and host of the NPR-One podcast Team Human, reveals the dynamics of this antihuman machinery and invites us to remake these aspects of society in ways that foster our humanity.
In 100 aphoristic statements, his manifesto exposes how forces for human connection have turned into ones of isolation and repression: Money, for example, has transformed from a means of exchange to a means of exploitation, and education has become an extension of occupational training. Digital-age technologies have only amplified these trends, presenting the greatest challenges yet to our collective autonomy: robots taking our jobs, algorithms directing our attention, and social media undermining our democracy. But all is not lost.
It's time for Team Human to take a stand, regenerate the social bonds that define us and, together, make a positive impact on this earth.

Realistically and challengingly uplifting
An important treatise of life as a human, and unavoidably and joyfully that same life WITH humans, in the digital age.

short and sweet but not very actionable
I went in wanting to get hints on how to build communities. The ideas were a bit too high level. I'm still going to have another read. maybe one proposition at a time. Long live Team Human.

If you care about humanities future read this book
I have been following the work of Douglas Rushkoff for many years. This is my favourite of his books, as it encapsulates in simple form the very nature of issues we have to address as humans in Universe. I loved the audible version as Doug narrates and he is very good at that. I have the hard copy as well, as an ongoing reference. One of the most important books in my library. Thanks Doug, you are an asset to Team Human.

Powerful in its brevity
Rushkoff brings to the surface the inhumanity of the digital revolution which has disconnected us far from ourselves and each other - our very own humanity. He provides an inspiring way forward for team human.
