About this listen

Those who have made the decision to homeschool their children have done so out of great love for them and a desire to provide them an excellent education in the context of a warm, enriching home. Yet so many parents (mainly mothers) who have taken up this challenge find the enterprise often full of stress, worry, and anxiety. In this practical, faith-based, and inspirational book, Sarah Mackenzie addresses these questions directly, appealing to her own study of restful learning and her struggle to bring restful learning to her (six) children.

Encouraging and refreshing.

I really appreciated this book. it uplifted my spirit and gave me courage. As a new homeschooling mum, I need all the wisdom and advice I can get. This book didn't pressure me to do more, or work harder. It reminded me of what is important to focus on. I felt lighter while reading it. Each morning I felt supported as I began my homeschooling day, all because of thr richness of Sarah's book. So grateful I had a friend recommend this book to me.

Fantastic Christian Book

Such a wonderful book to listen to. Hearing it once will not be enough. So many wonderful ideas that are practical and well thought out. This book will be a blessing to anyone who is trying to run a house, love on her family, homeschool her children and love and obey God! Thank you so much

A comfort to those who feel like failures.

It's a fairly short read, so it's a book I can come back to again and again. If you feel overwhelmed with the pressures of being a homeschool mum, then this book will help ease that fear of failure.

encouraging for those who need it

love the author and her reading of this book. a good encouraging and gentle book for the weary or anxious homeschool mum. probably best for new homeschoolers and those who are overwhelmed. im used to much meatier, longer and more instructional books so it left me wanting more, like there needed to be more chapters, more elaboration. more information. but i felt the same about her other book "the read aloud family" so im guessing its just personal taste in content of a book. it was worth hearing 😊

Too religious …

This book was far too Christian for a book that had no mention of Christianity on the book cover or in the blurb. It has so many bible references that I had to stop listening in the first chapter.
I love Sarah’s other books & have enjoyed many of her podcast episodes…. But this book was just “too much” for non-Christians to listen too.
VERY DISAPPOINTED THAT AUDIBLE WOULDN’T REFUND AUTOMATICALLY …
AUDIBLE should definitely update the category/tags to include “Religion” & “Christianity” … I’m thinking I will call them.

religion should be a warning like pg or ma15+

narrator had a lovely voice and I'm sure there is great advice and experience in this audiobook but I'm disappointed that again, this comes back to religion. God doesn't help you be calm and mindful when parenting. the inspiration from a story written years and years ago may help especially when each person can take what they want and or need for each moment in life but that inspiration can come from many places and doesn't need to be a focal point. I'm sorry but after "god" was mentioned and the Bible was referenced more than twice I stopped listening and had to switch to something else. glad it works for some.
