Publisher's Summary

In Julie Kagawa's groundbreaking modern fantasy series, dragons walk among us in human form.

Long ago, dragons were hunted to near extinction by the Order of St. George, a legendary society of dragon slayers. Hiding in human form and growing their numbers in secret, the dragons of Talon have becomestrong and cunning, and they're positioned to take over the world with humans none the wiser.

Ember and Dante Hill are the only sister and brother known to dragonkind. Trained to infiltrate society, Ember wants to live the teen experience and enjoy a summer of freedom before taking her destined place in Talon. But destiny is a matter of perspective, and a rogue dragon will soon challenge everything Ember has been taught. As Ember struggles to accept her future, she and her brother are hunted by the Order of St. George.

Soldier Garret Xavier Sebastian has a mission to seek and destroy all dragons, and Talon's newest recruits in particular. But he cannot kill unless he is certain he has found his prey - and nothing is certain about Ember Hill. Faced with Ember's bravery, confidence, and all-too-human desires, Garret begins to question everything that the order has ingrained in him - and what he might be willing to give up to find the truth about dragons.

easy read

Each narrator made it easier to follow the change in character perspective, as presented in each chapter. Good for background noise while working on a hobby.

Twilight meets how to train your dragon

In theory i like components of the book but as a whole I couldn’t finish it.

Storyline: great overall storyline but most characters are carbon copies of each other, honestly I kept getting all the names mixed up. Also, reads like a pre teen love novel.

Narration: great range of voice for both main authors but every sentence feels like a question which I don’t think was intended

Overall: twilight with dragons, great story if you want to entertain pre adolescent children who haven’t seen the twilight series.

Ok story but very much a YA novel

If you like young adult fantasy books then this will be a good book. The characters are 16/17 and this is definitely the levels it’s written at. The narrators are very stilted and the male does weird female accents

5 star

This series deserves nothing less then 5 stars. After finishing the series (5 books) for the second time I am devastated its come to an end. Id admit the first book is a little slow, but only because the context, detail and emotions are crucial and you’ll feel like one of the characters later on. The narrators have also done a fantastic job! If you aren’t prepared to read the whole series, don’t waste your time reading Talon alone.

Brain candy with a colander character set … potential Spoiler ahead

The story was entertaining as long as one recognises the lack of depth in the characters and plot. It’s made out to be secret and sinister but it’s more like an Austin Powers meets Eragon (The Inheritance Series).

Listening while cleaning the house and not wanting to listen to anything with actual substance, it helped pass the time. But, I have no interest in the sequel.

All of the main characters are conflicted, but noble-hearted persons with hero syndrome and a very delayed ability for self-analysis. And seriously, do there always need to be love triangles?!? Too many poorly executed cliches to take seriously.

Entertaining but not stimulating

The concepts and characters have a lot of potential.
The writing isn't great but it's what I expect of a Y/A Novel.

Loved it

I'm not a fan of women narrators and I've always struggled to get into an audio book that has women. This story blew me away. I couldn't stop listening.

Really enjoyed it

A bit slow to start but then I was hooked and really enjoyed the storyline. Looking forward to seeing what happens in the rest of the series!
