Publisher's Summary

If you haven't met a Moomin yet, you're in for the most magical fun! The unabridged, downloadable audiobook edition of Tove Jansson's endearing classic, Tales from Moominvalley, read with warmth (and some lively character voices) by the comedian Hugh Dennis. If you found a tiny golden dragon with green paws, would you know what to do with it? Well, Moomintroll thinks he knows what to do. But when he takes his new-found pet home, things don't quite work out as planned! Here is a delightful collection of stories in which Moomintroll meets some new characters such as the Fillyjonk and the Hattifatteners, as well as sharing adventures with old friends, namely Snufkin and Little My.

Critic Reviews

“The Moomin books make for both splendid bedtime read-alouds and solitary savoring.” ( Wall Street Journal)
“A lost treasure now rediscovered . . . A surrealist masterpiece.” (Neil Gaiman)
“Jansson was a genius of a very subtle kind. These simple stories resonate with profound and complex emotions that are like nothing else in literature for children or adults: intensely Nordic, and completely universal." (Philip Pullman)

beautifully crafted stories.

This is my favourite of Tove Jansson's Moomin books.
Each chapter is a complete story, where she explores the psychology of a given situation.
The feelings of her characters are so well portrayed.
I highly recommend this book to be enjoyed by kids with their parents.
You will all get something out of it and have a good laugh at the same time.

Great fun!

I'd forgotten just how quirky these favorite books from childhood were! Eccentric characters, not-so hidden but far from preached moral tales, and a delightful bucolic world. At first, I was a little disappointed there wasn't a Finnish accented speaker BUT Hugh Dennis, the 'Outnumbered Dad', brings the characters to life quite superbly - no wonder his on-screen daughter preferred his bed-time reading to mum's. I'll certainly be having a night-time listen to some more of these.
