About this listen
Welcome to Fountain Reach. Ancient seat of the Aubuchon dynasty. Majestic setting of the White Stone tournament.
Alex Verus' (not necessarily reliable) reputation attracts all sorts. Most are plain bonkers. Yet there's one invitation he just can't refuse.
At Fountain Reach, Alex is perfectly placed among the noted and notorious to figure out why apprentices have been vanishing. But the tournament is a minefield of ancient grudges and new threats, and Alex can't afford to miss a trick as his elusive adversary stays one step ahead in this most dangerous of games.

New characters...
We are introduced to Anne and Verium...great characters and get to see Alex develop more as a character who cares. Great reading. Series is getting more and more addictive with each book.

What's not to like!
Alex Verus just gets better and better with each book. All the secondary characters are growing and the plot thickends with easy book.
Still finding the narrator a little pompous but hey you can't have everything!

Protective Alex
When his apprentice Luna is a target Alex has to do what he can to protect her. He steps in to save the life of another apprentice and finds himself fighting for his life- again. This is a good book- a page-turner with this adventure he is on. he is no battle mage but he is smart and loyal to his friends. Worth reading.
