Romanen er fra første side ulaekker, absurd, medrivende, velfortalt og syret (...) med Syndflodens år skriver hun sig ikke desto mindre ind i en tradition for begavede samfundskritiske satirer over nutiden. Man kan ikke undgå at taenke på klassiske dystopier som Orwells 1984 og Huxleys Fagre nye verden.
