About this listen
Adventure. It's what my boring life is missing, so when I fall through a portal into another world, I'm excited. Here, I'm important. Here, I'm special.
I find out just how special when I meet Death. He's been exiled to the mortal realm to work through his flaws, and he's just as spoiled and awful as you'd think. Rhagos, the Shadow Lord, is arrogant and rude and controlling and demands to get his way. He's selfish. He's impossible.
He's also utterly gorgeous. Magnetic. Lonely. And strangely protective of me.
Thanks to a magic bond, I now serve him as his anchor to the mortal realm. It means that I'm his conscience, his guide...and the target for any assassin or glory-seeker. After a few days of this, I'd rather go home than continue on this adventure.
As the world falls down around us and we're hunted simply for existing, I find myself wondering what it'd be like to serve the lonely god of death...in all ways. To kiss him. To touch him. To bed him.
Except...I'm supposed to be finding a way home, not trying to kiss Rhagos. No matter how tempting he is. No matter how much he stares at my lips. No matter how much I want it.
Contains mature themes.

Epic love but first was better
So Max and Raggos had what I would call an epic love story but I feel like book 1 was better somehow. Their was action and adventure in book 1. Book 2 while really good concentrated on Max and Raggos love story. The happy ending you couldn't anticipate and I liked that. As for the narrator I wish they had stuck with Kendall who narrated the first book. She did ok but not my favourite

another amazing story
I love how every story I read by Ruby draws me in and makes me care for the characters. Their stories unique and individually complex.

***I never want it to end***
I loved this book it's a lil less aggressive and demanding than book 1 but it has its own appeal. Max and Rhagos are perfect together she grounds him and makes him more humane if that's the right word for it. Jillian Macie thank you for your excellent narrative. You give life to each characters uniquely and you made them UNFORGETABLE thank you.

a lot to live up to, and fail
I'm really trying but I hate it. I loved the first novel so my expectations were too high, but truly I'm seven hours in and she's still an idiot and a "positive thinking fixes everything" ninny and we don't get to know Rhagos because it's all through the eyes of this fool girl. I wish I hadn't used a credit on it, really don't know if I can finish. I want to trust Ruby, she's usually great.
