About this listen
Born in the storm that doomed his father, Connavar grows to manhood among the mist-covered mountains of Caer Druagh, where the Rigante tribe dwell in harmony with the land and its gods. But beyond the border, across the water, an evil force is gathering strength, an unstoppable force that will change the world beyond all recognition. Haunted by malevolent spirits and hunted by evil men, Connavar sets out on a spectacular mission to save his people.
From the master of the genre, this is a tale of love and honour, friendship and courage, as Gemmell explores the intriguing worlds of Celtic myth and earth magic.

Gemmell's Finest Hour
I was lucky enough to hear and see David Gemmell talk about his Rigante Saga before it was released.
It was a rare opportunity when you could sense and feel clearly the resonance of pride from a master craftsman, who had his own sense of just how special what they had found in themselves would be.
Sword In The Storm begins a Series of 4 Books that distill and highlight the best of what David Gemmell had to offer.
Over the years and countless rereads, that has never left me.
And this was a magnificently Rendered Performance that elevates that Resonance.
Heroic Fantasy at its rousing Best!

Why a Female Narrator?
Book is awesome. unsure why a Female Narrator was used as the characters are 90% male and it is a book primarily warriors.. also too softly spoken at times and accidents are one dimensional. Sounds like the men are in a constant state of puberty with cracking voices..

surprise!
I have been a David Gemmell fan since I read Legend as a first run hardcover. I lost the ability to read in 1994 after brain surjury and tried audio books for 25 years, then I was given Knights of Dark Reknown on Audio disc. 4 books later a a friend found Audible for me & I lost myself in the Drenai. The first time I tried to listen to David Gemmell Sword in the Storm I quit because how could a woman do justice to a Gemmell story - I ask forgiveness for my prejudice, I WAS WRONG. This needed an excellent Narrator & Adjoa is, Siebenesc. Thank you.

Incredible
David Gemmell quickly became my favourite author while reading his Drenai saga.
I had of course heard great things about the Rigante series. Despite that I wondered how on earth could it live up to the quality of Drenai.
I am happy to say that it definitely does while not coming across as more of the same.
A hell of a lot happens in this, the world is fantastic to read and learn more about.
The characters, no surprise are brilliantly done, Connavar, the main character is a joy to read. The rest of the cast also shine bright.
The story has many twists and turns, plenty of gritty action, tragic moments, heartfelt moments and everything else that makes a cracking read.
Narrator does a fantastic job.

Amazing story. Terrible performance.
Unfortunately this amazing story is almost ruined by the terrible, truly awful voice acting. The narration and just story reading is ok but when the narrator tries to do voices they are either sound like she doesn’t know how to speak normally or in a Celtic accent. Truly disappointing. She should have just read it normally the whole way through. Poor Riamfada sounds like he is a stuttering idiot instead of someone who has a physical defect in his legs. How they let this happen is insulting to people with physical disabilities.

Ridiculous accents
Please could you record this book with a different voice actor. It's such a shame that you have let a good book be destroyed like this.
I don't know why this reader insists on using these painful accents for different characters. It's s actually awful.
One main character in particular I came to dread making an appearance.
The voice actor needs to take a back seat and let the story tell itself. You're not the main character. I can't hear the story through all of your nonsense.
