About this listen

Brought to you by Penguin.

Those we think we know best can sometimes surprise us the most . . .

After being together for ten years, Sylvie and Dan have a comfortable home, fulfilling jobs, beautiful twin girls, and communicate so seamlessly, they finish each other's sentences. They have a happy marriage and believe they know everything there is to know about each other. Until it's casually mentioned to them that they could be together for another sixty-eight years... and panic sets in.

They quickly decide to create little surprises for each other, to keep their relationship fresh and fun. But in their pursuit of Project Surprise Me - anything from unexpected gifts to restaurant dates to photo shoots - mishaps arise with disastrous and comical results.

Gradually, the surprises turn to shocking discoveries. And when a scandal from the past is uncovered, they begin to wonder if they ever really knew each other after all. . .

What fun.

I was really pleased to have the audible narration of this book, along with the e-book version. The narrator, Fiona Hardingham, was really good. As a NZer I really appreciate listening to a story in it's own accent.
I recommend this book to most people, only not to those who are going through a marriage breakup or the death of a father.

I loved this Sophie Kinsella novel

Narrator was clear and the story interesting with a moral attached. I almost didn’t get it due to other reviews but was pleasantly surprised

Brilliant on Every Level

The combination of Sophie Kinsella’s clever story line, beautifully penned, along with the velvet and artful tones of Fiona Hardingham makes for delightful listening. I want to re-read Surprise Me immediately.

Brilliant

Funny, sad and everything in between. Her usual style of plot twists and turns but always makes you think.

A bit boring, not a good Sophie Kinsella book

Sophie Kinsella was my favourite author for a long time, but this book was boring and also got a bit heavy halfway through. Definitely not as enjoyable as I expected. I re-read her books many times, but this one I doubt I will ever read again.
