About this listen

Photographer Isla Wilson is thrilled she's landed her dream job, but the clients who hired her are getting stranger by the day.

It sounded so perfect—a month's assignment at the lush Scottish Highlands property of architect Alban McGregor, and his wife, Jessica.

But in the woods, there's a playhouse with a chilling history.

Two years ago, the McGregors' daughter Elodie was abducted and then died in that playhouse. The townspeople insist her abductor had to be a stranger in their town. Alban refuses to knock the playhouse down, even keeping a picture of it on his wall.

Sensing the McGregors and townspeople are keeping terrible secrets, Isla plans to discover the truth.

But the closer Isla comes to uncovering answers, the more the danger mounts. And with a dense cover of snow now blanketing the town, all chance of escape might already be gone.

Very suspenseful and well voiced

Great story, couldn’t wait to listen more to how the story plays out. But it was also kept equally as engaging with the voice performance. The flicking between accents and the annunciations were brilliant. Thoroughly enjoyed this book and hope to hear more from both author and voice performer 🙌

Twisty

This book had many twists which I didn't see coming. Sometimes I thought an angle a bit far fetched but by the time the book was finished the ends were wrapped up plausibly. I am wondering if the stranger on the beach near the end is a lead-in to a sequel. I hope so.

A long story

Good listen, some moments that drag but the twist are good and the story unfolds in an interesting way.
Would make an excellent miniseries- the settings, the characters are all clearly painted.

Really Good, you won't guess the ending

The reason I gave it 4 rather than 5 stars was that I almost gave up one third of the way through. I was sure I has guessed the plot and the ending. So glad I continued and then I couldn't stop listening, it does get you in. Narrator was great accents and voices were fabulous 👌. Perservere it's really worth it in the end!

Excellent story, lots of twists

I was pleasantly surprised with this audiobook! Great story and many twists and turns that I would never have worked out. Some I did but the rest was so well done. Recommended read!
