About this listen

Enter a world of gargoyle protectors, rising demons, and one girl with an explosive secret.

Eighteen-year-old Trinity Marrow may be going blind, but she can see and communicate with ghosts and spirits. Her unique gift is part of a secret so dangerous that she’s been in hiding for years in an isolated compound fiercely guarded by Wardens - gargoyle shape-shifters who protect humankind from demons. If the demons discover the truth about Trinity, they’ll devour her, flesh and bone, to enhance their own powers.

When Wardens from another clan arrive with disturbing reports that something out there is killing both demons and Wardens, Trinity’s safe world implodes. Not the least because one of the outsiders is the most annoying and fascinating person she’s ever met. Zayne has secrets of his own that will upend her world yet again - but working together becomes imperative once demons breach the compound and Trinity’s secret comes to light. To save her family and maybe the world, she’ll have to put her trust in Zayne. But all bets are off as a supernatural war is unleashed....

Such an awesome story!

The only thing I could say is that I wish that Layla’s voice wasn’t as whingey but honestly that’s just easy to overlook because I love this book and how the narrator has portrayed all the other characters so much!

Light entertainment

It's a simple but entertaining storyline. The narrator had the right skills, but sounded like she had a cold through the whole thing, which was a little distracting.

So good

Jennifer L Armentrout never dissappoints. I’m so glad I picked this book up as I loved the original series “elements” that this spun off from.
So glad to have Zayn back

Great Story. Amazing Narration.

I thoroughly loved this book. The narration was brilliant.

The first thing I noticed when starting this book is that there are ALOT of similar character traits and plot threads shared between Storm and Fury, and From Blood and Ash (from her other series), but I was able to look past that and still really enjoy the story. I do like that Jennifer incorporates a visual impairment into the main character Trinity. As always with Jannifer's books, the romance is steamy but not overdone and fits well into the story.

I'm looking forward to book two!

Tropes for days!

Another story where there is a 'special' girl who is just way tougher and more badass than everyone else (with deep dark issues) who meets a boy and suddenly her life revolves around him.
Her best friend and 'brother from another mother'is taken by the ... (checks notes) demons. Because of course it's demons. So she of course goes on a bit ole adventure to save him but keeps getting distracted by The Man and his chest muscles.
All in all, a but eyeroll.
Narrator did a good job with it! But all the Men sound like the high school boys from Buffy.
