Publisher's Summary

Silence has fallen. The Psy are free to feel emotion. Free to love. But Silence was never a prison for Ivan Mercant.

The biggest threat to his future lies dormant in his brain—a psychic monster that wants only to feed. And now, the brutal leash he's kept on that monster is slipping. He prepared for this day, for the end of Ivan Mercant...but that was before he met Lei.

As primal as she is human, this wild changeling brings colour into his life, laughter to his soul. Then the dream shatters in a rain of blood, in silent bodies in the snow. Lei is gone. Vanished without a trace...until Ivan meets strangely familiar eyes across a busy San Francisco street.

Soleil Bijoux Garcia is a healer who has lost everything. She exists in a world of desolate aloneness...until the day she finds herself face-to-face with a lethal stranger. The animal who is her other half knows this man, but her memories are tattered fragments. Sorrow and a need for vengeance are all that drive her. Her mission? To kill the alpha of the Dark River leopard pack.

But fate has other plans. Soon, a deadly soldier who believes himself a monster and a broken healer might be all that stand between life and death for the entire Psy race....

Nalini never ever disappoints...

I love everything Nalini writes, but the Psy/Changeling and Psy/Changeling Trinity series are my favourites.

Ivan and Soleil are polar opposites and yet they are perfectly mated for each other. In a Nalini Singh world set in the near future, it's not too much of a leap to consider the possibilities of a time and place where humans might have something worthy of contributing to the prolonging of life.

Love at first sight gets complicated when tragic circumstances seperate Ivan snd Soleil for a year. Soleil has lost her memory, and thank goodness she's a cat too, because cats don't forget anything. And Ivan, well he hasn't forgotten Soleil at all :-)

There's romance, passion, humour, kindness, faithfullness, integrity, love, and family - psy/changeling/human - that overcome violence and oppression.

I'm hoping Nalini will bring us the backstory of Ena Mercant. Ena's the grandmother every traumatised child needs.

Thank you Nalini for another awesome telling.

Storm Echo

A great story with the coming together of the Psy, Ivan and the Ocelot, Soleil.
After the silence had fallen Ivan meets Soleil but when her pack is destroyed he thinks he has lost her. Years later he sees her and although she can’t remember him her cat does and wants to claim him. As the memories return Ivan is pulled into a situation that may mean the end of both of them.

Worth the wait.

♥️♥️Loved this. It is always such a trial to have to wait for the next book. I wish I could savour them and read them slowly but once I get started I can't. I'm always so invested in the characters and story that I have to keep reading! It's a good thing I can re-read them🤗

An absolute beauty!

Back with a psy/changeling story and what wonderful main characters. Ivan Mercant (forgive any misspelling, I listened to this) and Soleil a changeling healer are so opposite, but it works.
Setting it back in Sam Francisco, and therefore including Dark River Pack and so many of its wonderful members, made a strong, emotional and interesting story all the more wonderful!
I love every one of the Nalini Singh books, and this one is now one of my favourites.

Well worth a listen

I loved the story of Ivon and Lei. Big props to Angela Dawe for excellent narration. This is a slow burn romance with a very interesting plot. The bigger narrative also moves and we see some much loved characters show up.
