About this listen

Jules van der Meer... He's somebody I shouldn't want, someone I can't have.

The forbidden fruit. The desire not to be indulged in. He's wealthy, successful, important... everything I'm not.

I'm half his age. Immature and desperate.

It's what they all say—the men in the night with the fancy clothes and the shiny cars, with enough money to make me do whatever they please.

But him... well, he looks at me like I'm the answer to his prayers, a diamond in the rough. He doesn't realize how wrong he is, though.

I'm poison—putrid and vile. I'll seep into his pores, wrap around his bones, and destroy whatever light he has left until he's just like me...

Nothing but storm clouds and devastation.

Storm Clouds and Devastation is book two in the Hidden Affairs standalone MM series. This book features a significant age gap and touches on heavy issues such as mental illness.

Deals with Dark situations

This book was worth reading. It contains themes of mental health and abuse both physically and mentally. This may be a book of fiction but it portays what is actually happening in some parts of society at this very time and I am truly saddened. Story is good to read, not only as it highlights matters that should not be shoved under the rug but it also highlights that help is available from many sources, that hope is possible and also highlights love is possible.

I loved this story.

I was in tears both in sadness and joy. What a beautiful story. The friendship between Bodie and his roommates and the love he has for his best fiends dad Jules is so powerful even when he doesn’t realise it all. Narrators are brilliant. I love Teddy and Liam in all their work.

Story or Bodhi and Jules

This is an opposites attract romance, featuring Bodhi King and Jules van der Meer, and is the second book in this series. The narrators for this whole series are fantastic. Can’t rate Teddy and Liam’s performance high enough for this book.

Bodhi is in college but works as an escort for money. He gets a client call but when he gets there, he realises it’s his old best friend’s dad, Julian (Jules).

Bodhi doesn’t want anything to happen because it’s his old best friend’s dad but Jules doesn’t give up and wears Bodhi down. I won’t say anything else as it is a complex story to convey and I feel you need to read it to fully experience just how hard hitting it is.

This book kind of broke my heart for Bodhi, what he went through, how he felt about himself, how he suffered, I just wanted to wrap him in a hug and never let him go. Him and Jules had major things in their lives they had to deal with but their connection was all consuming and ultimately helped them both heal. It was a hard fought for HEA.

Make sure you check the TWs. I loved the book, and was so gripped, I couldn’t put it down.

Tropes include:
Age gap
Old best friend’s dad
Escort
Possessive
Daddy / pretty boy
Mental health rep
Hurt/comfort
