Publisher's Summary
When Cora attends her sister's birthday party, she expects at most a hangover or a walk of shame. She doesn't anticipate a stolen wallet, leaving her stranded and dependent on Dean—her arch nemesis and ultimate thorn in her side.
And she really doesn't anticipate waking up in shackles in a madman's basement.
To make matters worse, Dean shares the space in his own set of chains.
After fifteen years of teasing, insults, and practical jokes, the ultimate joke seems to be on them. The two people who always thought they'd end up killing each other must now work together if they want to survive.
But Cora and Dean have no idea their abductor has a plan for them. A plan that will alter the course of their relationship, blur the line between hate and love, and shackle them together with far more than just chains.
Contains mature themes.

Flawless!!!
It was so surprising to find a book with a really good story and good smut at the same time :) Jennifer Hartman nailed it! Story, plot, twists, character building, story building and even going in a very sensitive topic of a victim ptsd. I will not be surprise if this will turn into a movie someday.
I love everything about this book, but the narration of the male lead was too low and didn’t really match the character. I’m glad the female narrator covered about 90% of the book so it’s fine. She nailed all the emotions and has done a great job portraying the character. She brings me to the exact setting of the story from her narration.
I’m so happy i now have a new favourite author I can listen from audible. Can’t wait to read my next book written by Jennifer Hartman :)

Amazing
Loved the entirety of this book. Hard to listen to the traumatic beginning but the love story was phenomenal. The only part that let the book down was the male narrator. I didn’t feel like his voice matched the character.
Otherwise fantastic all round

Brutal but gripping
This was a good read, well written, had its ups and downs though.
The beginning was brutal but really well portrayed.
I got really frustrated with the middle after they escaped though, almost all their friends and family expecting them to get over it and socialise and date right away.. I just found that annoying. But the couples relationship and interactions and end result was great.
Not a book you read for spice..

Great story- hard to put down
Some darker themes in this one - so not for all. I really enjoyed this story. Yes, a bit predictable but overall I couldn’t stop listening. Great job by the narrators!

I expected more
This book has some rave reviews but I just found it all very cringey. The thing that stopped me finishing it was the Male narrator. The way the character was read with breathy sighs every few words was just too much for me. Might try reading the book to finish.

An emotional rollercoaster
An original storyline dealing with PTSD and depression, lots of triggers if that’s an issue for you. I went into this without reading the blurb and I’m glad. I listened to the audiobook in one day. I was absolutely enthralled in the storyline, which I thought was unique, and the narrators brought the story to life. I shed quite a few tears whilst in this journey but it does have a HEA.

4 heartbeats out of 5
I'm not sure how I feel about this one. On surface level, it's an angsty love story born from shared trauma from a horrific experience, but that's it, it's surface level. I loved Dean and Cora, but it lacked something 🤔 The bonus chapter was not needed. I was hoping it would be some shocking twist.

Beautiful story
This story is a beautiful heartbreaking story. Definitely have tissues on board before going into this story. It’s dark and hard to get through but worth it in the end. Great job with narrations and the only thing that would make this book better is duel narration.

Heart wrenching
This book took me through all the emotions, conflicting and contractions. The passion and devastation that you experience go hand in hand. It’s a 3 🌶️ for me but it’s the story that carries this.
Beautifully written and preformed.

What a tragically beautiful story
What a beautifully tragic story. Gosh everything about this story was heart wrenching, the trauma, the hate, the love, the pain, the trauma all of it had my heart and brain in a chokehold. This was a fantastic story of taboo and overcoming our traumas, our mind, our ideas of right and wrong and I am here for all of it. I enjoyed every moment of this book, wholeheartedly recommend you give it a go too!
