About this listen

In this epic of unsurpassed action and imagination, Michael Stackpole helps to launch an exciting new era in Star Wars history. Onslaught pits the battle-tested heroes of the past - Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, and Leia Organa Solo - along with the next generation of Jedi and droids, against fearsome never-before-encountered enemies from beyond the galactic rim....

It is a perilous time for the New Republic. Just when unity is needed most, mistrust is on the rise. Even the Jedi feel the strain, as rogue elements rebel against Luke's leadership. When alien invaders known as the Yunnan Vong strike without warning, the New Republic is thrown on the defensive. Merciless warriors, the Yunnan Vong glory in torture. Their technology is as strange as it is deadly. Most ominous of all, they are impervious to the Force.

Now Luke must wield all the awesome powers of a Jedi Master to defeat the gravest threat since Darth Vader. As Leia and Gavin Darklighter lead desperate refugees in a fighting retreat from Yunnan Vong forces, Mara Jade, Anakin, Jacen, and Corran Horn find themselves tested as never before by a faceless, implacable foe determined to smother the light of the New Republic forever beneath a shroud of darkest evil....

Poorly abridged

There are relevant pieces missing from this abridged version. Quite disappointed. Surely it could’ve included more of the original book.

read washed out by backing music/effects at times

narration volume needs to be louder or backing tracks need to be lowered in volume.

Poor quality/too short

I’m a massive fan of the Star Wars EU and have long wanted to listen to the books on the Vong but have so far been disappointed by two things about the audiobook series, firstly the recording quality so far has been terrible and I feel like the narrator is good but maybe not for Star Wars as he doesn’t try to make the characters sound like we know they do (e.g Lando and Han have some very recognisable and feels weird hearing them with a stock standard white guy voice) with better quality recording it might not be so bad. The 2nd problem I have is the fact that their is 22 books in total all at just over 3 hours a piece, I suggest selling them in a bundle of 3-5 at a reduced price because they are simply to short, expecting people to pay $15ea for 3 hours is ridiculous and will likely be the reason I don’t continue with the series. All in all I feel like the new Jedi order series would be awesome but because of these two things (the 2nd in particular) I don’t think I will be able to finish it.

Good but....

Been looking forward to the new jedi order books and the Vong war. But so far the first two books have been more like a transcript or a list of events been read off rather then a STORY. Other wise loving hearing about the war.
