About this listen

Brought to you by Penguin.

Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker must stem the tide of the raging Clone Wars and forge a new bond as Jedi Knights.

The Clone Wars have begun. Battle lines are being drawn throughout the galaxy. With every world that joins the Separatists, the peace guarded by the Jedi Order is slipping through their fingers.

After an explosion devastates Cato Neimoidia, the jewel of the Trade Federation, the Republic is blamed and the fragile neutrality of the planet is threatened. The Jedi dispatch Obi-Wan Kenobi, one of the Order's most gifted diplomatic minds, to investigate the crime and maintain the balance that has begun to dangerously shift. As Obi-Wan investigates with the help of a heroic Neimoidian guard, he finds himself working against the Separatists who hope to draw the planet into their conspiracy-and senses the sinister hand of Asajj Ventress in the mists that cloak the planet.

Amid the brewing chaos, Anakin Skywalker rises to the rank of Jedi Knight. Despite the mandate that Obi-Wan travel alone—and his former master's insistence that he listen this time—Anakin's headstrong determination means nothing can stop him from crashing the party and bringing along a promising but conflicted youngling.

Once a Padawan to Obi-Wan, Anakin now finds himself on equal—but uncertain—footing with the man who raised him. The lingering friction between them increases the danger for everyone around them. The two knights must learn a new way to work together—and they must learn quickly, to save Cato Neimoidia and its people from the fires of war. To overcome the threat they face they must grow beyond master and apprentice. They must stand together as brothers.

I’ve listened to multiple Star Wars novels now and this is one of my favourites!

It would be pretty hard for me not to like a Star Wars book at this stage.

Wow, this book felt so tense, but as a heavily invested reader in the Star Wars universe, I thoroughly enjoyed this. So many moments when I wanted to scream at Anakin to not trust Palpatine. His grooming was sickening, but it made total sense in the grand narrative.

There was also a close link to current issues in our real world. For example, it tackles racism and war, and honestly, it was done in such a beautiful way.

It was fantastic to see a youngling and Anakin being a great teacher and master. In fact, there were so many things I liked. I am so glad I read this book, and I can't wait to see the Kenobi series. BRING IT ON!!!

BRING ON KENOBI

Haven’t finished this book yet but so far it’s turning out to be one of the best Star Wars novels I’ve come across. It’s taking Anakin in all his angst and ‘brattyness’ in episode 2 and than showing how he is progressing into the hero of the clone wars. It in a way feels like a joining of Hayden’s and Matt’s portrayal of Anakin. So many gems in this book so far I hope the quality is consistent all the way through.

I’m 11 chapters in but so far the book is fantastic.
The author captures the characterisations of Obi-Wan and Anakin perfectly it also fits into Canon very well and bridges the gap between the aftermath of attack of the clones and the clone Wars TV series.
Even though I’m only up to chapter 11 I’m already hot I can’t wait to hear how the story ends hope they do flashbacks or something similar in the Kenobi series.

Still going but so far I love it!

It’s totally worth a listen. Performance was brilliant. Sometimes the background noises are over the top but still a wonderful audio book.

If you've ever wanted to know what they meant by that off comment back in 2005, strap yourself in. I think more than anything, just seeing how Anakin and Obi Wan's relationship completely changes and forms into the one we see in ROTS is enough to sell this one. They did a good job at staying true to pre-existing characters while also keeping it realistic continuity-wise for new ones. It also helps they include great sound effects and John Williams original scores to heighten the experience. Would definitely recommend.

That business on Namoidia doesn't count...

I very much love a good Star Wars story. But this one is not one of them. The performance and reading was great however. I lost interest by about chapter 10.

Boring story.
