About this listen

Two generations. Three love stories. One epic family.

The Darcy family is the oldest in Derbyshire, and Pemberley has been their home for 12 generations. It has seen their loves, their losses, their triumphs, and heartbreaks.

This sweeping saga of tragedy, devotion, and betrayal - spanning over 25 years and two generations - follows the Darcy family in all its shame and glory.

From Lady Anne’s perfect graciousness to George Darcy’s unwavering devotion, we see the friendships that formed each iconic character and the circumstances that shaped the man we have come to love. To understand Mr. Darcy, one must first understand Pemberley.

Wonderful - a joy to listen to.

Part of the story is in the 'present' we know so well, with Elizabeth and Darcy, visits to Netherfield etc, and the other part is set in the past, amidst the backstory of Darcy's parents and young Wickham, but with an alternate scenario where Darcy's mother does not die in an accident but someone else does instead. This changes everything. When Elizabeth meets Darcy, his mother, Lady Anne is still around, and her influence has been for good on everyone around her. So we see a less proud Darcy, a chastened Miss Bingley, a more prudent Mr Bingley, wise advice and a good example to Mrs Bennet, younger brothers to Darcy, and best of all, a Mr Wickham who has been set on a better path earlier in life. All of this good influence results in some very different and much happier outcomes. Very well written with no jarring modern anachronisms. Nicely performed. A pure joy to listen to.

One of the best storyline’s

It was difficult at first to get used to the time of the narration in terms of pre 1800s to later times however, it soon became easier with the reference to dates and different characters. It all tied in beautifully from both generations and different parts what you to tease whilst others were joyous. The male or female generations tied in really well and made the visualisation of the story much better.
