About this listen

It's the opposite of love at first sight...or is it?

Dairy farmer Tabitha Cooper-Jones has a heart of gold, yet she's the eternal bridesmaid. Everyone's best mate. Despite facing some serious challenges over the years, she's built a successful ice-cream business and cafe, she's adored by her family and is an integral part of her hometown - there's just one thing missing from her life. But the last thing Tab wants is a man - or worse, love - to stop her achieving her dream.

In town for a temporary teaching contract, Fergus McWilliams thinks the small community of Walsh will be the perfect place to stay under the radar, but he couldn't be more wrong. Suddenly, the kids' cricket team coached by Ferg is inundated with female supporters - single female supporters - and that's only the beginning.

The only woman who doesn't seem to have her sights set on Ferg is Tabitha. Despite a disastrous first meeting and a visit from a past love, circumstances keep throwing them together. Neither can deny the sparks between them, but can friendship even be possible for these two strong-willed people?

A moving story of overcoming obstacles and learning to love, from ABIA award-winning author Rachael Johns.

Another gem from Rachael Johns

Once again Rachael had me hooked from the first few lines. In just under 24 hours she took me on a journey so relatable & real, I just had to keep listening until the end. As with every story she writes I wanted it to keep going as I had fallen in love with her characters. I hope we get to revisit them all soon.
Having grown up with & blessed to call the incredible Loreen on who she based Tabetha a friend I was so moved by the way Rachael made her true spirit shine from the book. A more capable & wonderful woman you could not meet & Tabetha did her proud. I just wished chainsaw wielding & motorbike riding had featured, yes there is nothing Loreen can't do.
Thanks Rach for once again leaving me feeling totally moved by your writing. And great big hugs for providing your books in the audible format, you know it means the world to me to be able to still enjoy your books now reading isn't possible for me.
Thank you Casey for doing such a beautiful job of bringing Rach's words to life.

Excellent!!!

Rachael Johns stories are 2 nd to none, but they are even made better when read by Casey Withoos. So many Australian rural love stories are ruined by the narrator.

Another great story.

My only complaint is that the narrator learn how to pronounce the WA town names correctly… ALbany - not ALLbany ;-) and a few others.

B/B

Love your strong women characters & how you can weave a story around each persons life, linking them all together as is in small towns. 🚐

Heartwarming From The Start

What I love about Rachael Johns characters is how believable they are, how easy it is to relate to situations that you wouldn’t consider relevant to you.
I didn’t think I’d like this because I thought I wouldn’t relate to a character with a disability - how naive I was. I began to love Tabitha more and more with each sentence. I love that Johns doesn’t flog the raunchier scenes to death, giving just enough and leaving some to the imagination. And I live in the same state as this is set in, which holds these stories that much closer to my heart. I can only hope to write something half as good as this one day.
Massive new fan of R. Johns.

Entertaining sequel

Loved the strong characters and the realistic ebb and flow of relationships. Enjoyed the villains as authentic deadbeats as well as the consistency of the supporting characters' stories woven in from previous books.

A book to really settle into and enjoy!

Thanks Rachel for another bush story that I thoroughly enjoyed - out here in the Wheatbelt. I loved the premis of a teacher adding to a country town population when linking to a local farmer, but especially the twist of a male teacher and female farmer. Hopefully all readers will gain just that little more insight into those disabled in any way, but especially our behaviour when interacting with amputees. Loved the book!
