Best book of this genre I’ve read
The storyline was so much more varied and interesting than any other book of this genre, well, by this author at least. The characters had depth and had unusual elements to them. Highly recommend.
Oh, and Roslyn Landor, the narrator, was outstanding, as always.

Loved this unique and vibrant story.
I loved everything about this story. The characters were strong and believable. They came to life. The romance developed well as did the reveal of their wonderful character depths. My only disappointment was, it wasn’t until almost the end of the story, that the reader finds out Anna sent money to the orphanage early on, until then I thought her a little self centred not sending money instead, writing glowing letters to her friends about her wealth. Perhaps it was briefly mentioned and I missed it? Apart from that the story was perfect and memorable.

Enjoyable
l really enjoyed this novel. loved this book. The story was original and the characters were well fleshed out. l also really love this narrator. She has a very large cast of voices so it makes the characters easy to distinguish. Well done.

Lovely story
This was a really sweet story,no violence, drama, suspense or great sadness. Was just a really easy enjoyable listen, no literary awards or anything, something very stress free to enjoy.

Great story great series
I’ve listened to this story a couple of times now and I really like it. Avery they male character is excellent and not like the standard type you normally get in this genre. I love that he has this additional hidden skill and that he ends up wanting to share it with Anna. I’d really like I’d Mary Balogh made a follow up series based on their children as I’m fairly sure that Avery would teach all his children too and it would be a great skill for daughters especially to have that could be blended into their stories to make a very interesting read.
And as always Rosalyn Landor is exceptional at narrating.

Confusing on so many levels
I love a good Regency novel, but this one... I'm not sure if it is the characters that are confused, the author, or just me.
In the opening chapters we are introduced to the lovely Anna who is confident, kind, principled, intelligent, and conscientious. She has turned down 3 marriage proposals, remaining close friends with one of them as they had grown up together at the orphanage and now teach the same student. So far - fine. But as the story progresses she not only writes to this male friend (which was taboo unless they were related or formally courting) but she shares her emotional romantic feelings about another man which feels totally insensitive toward someone who once wanted to marry her. If she was kind and principled she would surely not have done such a thing.
She is also kissed by someone that she is not engaged to and yet no one seems shocked or conflicted. It is just passed over as though nothing occurred. A kiss in that era was tantamount to a scandal or an engagement so why does the event just get passed over without barely a thought or question?
There were multiple names and titles for several characters which was very confusing and I think the author could have simplified that for the reader. I really could have done with a printout of the family tree.
And lastly were the descriptions of what I think were supposed to be romantic moments. Describing a kiss as "moist" or "wet"...? In my opinion that should not be allowed. Eww! There are so many beautiful ways to describe the physical expression of intimacy but this book did not have them.
All that aside there was potential - it just failed to deliver for me.
But many love this book therefore obviously it works for some. As part of the plus catalogue at least it is free.

Quite sweet, rather slow
A lot of repetition, especially with internal monologues. Period details OK, not glaringly bad. Needed a bit of editing perhaps. Narrator is a bit irritating although voices for characters are good.
