About this listen
Brought to you by Penguin.
When the body of an Australian backpacker is found in Spain, an online group of amateur true crime sleuths springs up around the world, attempting to solve the mystery of her death.
Foremost on the message boards is Astria, a young Norwegian woman whose feverish pursuit takes her closer than anyone to solving the case.
But just as she makes her claim of unravelling the mystery, she goes offline.
No one in the group has heard from her since.
When William Wisting is sent to investigate, he is plunged deep into a fascinating world of unorthodox investigators, whose connections are as vague and varied as their abilities. But in a dangerous case where nothing is as it seems, these online detectives may be the best hope he has for solving the mystery - before another victim falls...

Gripping
Held my attention from beginning to end. Fabulously written, engaging with the reader all the way. Interesting characters with realistic back stories.

Very well done!
Cleverly written this book in the series would also hold up as a stand alone story. I enjoy Horst’s characters and would recommend him to anyone who enjoys crime novels.

Shockingly boring
I persisted with this from the previous reviews. An author who thinks he is delivering educational material about digital technology in the guise of a murder mystery. The reading is a monotone and details such as which seat a person sat in for a discussion, where someone placed a glass.
I listened while gardening and doing housework. It didn't matter if I missed anything, because thew same monotonous story continued at a snail pace.
I can't return it because I have listened for far too long in the hope that I hadn't chosen another failure.
I was wrong. An excellent waste of a good credit.

So much padding
This story was quite extraordinary in its tediousness. A third rate “ Girl with the Dragon Tattoo”, it’s not enough to have to follow the excruciatingly stolid Wisting .. but have to endure the oh so slowly evolving plot through multiple repetitions from multiple moronic amateur online sleuths…. Gawd. Repeat, repeat and then as if you haven’t heard all the information ad nauseum , you get to hear it another 8 times……..And the narrator…. utterly dreadful. Yes, I realise English is not his first language…but sometimes I felt like I was listening to a child sounding out all the written words. It was so awful it made me laugh.
