Tune your ear and learn to listen to the French language the way it is spoken.

This first volume contains the alphabet, the numbers, and the conjugation of the four verbs most used, in French and in English, with multiple examples. You will learn useful tips to memorize them easily. (The second volume contains all the basic French vocabulary and grammar. It is necessary to go through this volume before working on the second volume. The basic vocabulary in the second volume represents the words you will find in real conversations.)

We have recorded French people conversing naturally; our SmartFrench program and analyzed these dialogues. We observed that 65 percent of all words spoken in any of these conversations were always the same and basic. After listening and practicing with this and the other volume, you will know 65 percent of all conversations you will ever have or happen to listen to in French. If you intend to learn a few sentences to get by when you are in France, this tool is not for you. The way you will speak with SmartFrench is a natural way. You will sound like a French person very early, learning French with SmartFrench, and you will feel very confident speaking French.

Listen and practice (slow to faster) and build up!

This recording is teaching me much more from only listening and pronunciation than I've had so far in my five hours of French classes.
This resource (1 of 5 in the series) is based on listening and repeating common words to maximise one's learning. Notably, it's not word by word alone, as the French language is set into small groups so one's ear and mouth tune to French phases early on which is great. Repeating the phrases before learning their meanings is helpful to tune the ears and mouth!
Also, the speed builds up, also great as a technique and for the real world. That said you can slow down the playback speed in audible a little if need be once the dialogue to repeat is at real speaking speed and build up e.g. Track 5 for repeating back.
The early focus on the alphabet, and then the numbers is great for hearing and practicing the French sounds. The meanings of numbers and hints e.g. liaisons, contractions, and pronunciation also help a lot in learning to understand and speak French and develop speed as a beginner. Also, in the PDF, muted letters are shown in red, and contractions are underlined too.
There's much more to build spoken French. For example, helpful hints sprinkled in for developing an ear for the sounds of French; pronouns; and verb conjugation are included too with many, many phrases to build one's French and even to make useful flash cards if one wants too.
I got the PDF too (I emailed the author and got a prompt response, though it would be easier if it could be downloaded from audible directly). Silent letters and contractions are identified in the script - very practical learning!
This recording is teaching me more about listening and pronunciation than I've had so far in my five hours of French classes.
Unexpectedly, the (unintentional I assume) bonus in the recording is that Christain's accented spoken English is really helpful for emphasising French speech patterns! For example, by pausing/phrasing or use of the English word 'children' the French accent makes it is nearly CHILDREN {chil-dre(n)} or the English word IRREGULAR {i-re-gu-lar} which to my mind reflects spoken, French syllables (something I've struggled with) and reduced/removed final consonant pronunciation - so very helpful to get my head in the right space and tune my ear!
Be aware that this product is one component of a set of teaching resources. Focus only on this one to master its content, the sounds of French, build your ear, and build a speed of speaking ***complete with contractions in phrases *** all of which are key to speaking French and being understood. Or dip into others you buy too. This is good for me to only pay for what I'm going to use at this time and build up later on.

Great French Course

Christian’s French courses are fantastic for helping you learn natural pronunciation and to build your ability to communicate in a way that sounds authentic. I have found that by practicing the contractions especially, my listening has also greatly improved and I’m catching a lot more when watching French TV or movies. I highly recommend his courses.
