About this listen

Sarah Forsyth has spent most of her life in fear. After overcoming the hurt and heartbreak of a horrific childhood, Sarah managed to build a new life for herself as a nursery nurse.

Then, one day, she spotted a newspaper advert for a job in a crèche in Amsterdam. Excited by the prospect of a fresh start abroad, she eagerly signed up. But within minutes of stepping off the plane in Amsterdam her life began to fall apart....

There was no crèche and no job. That night, at just 19 years of age, her life - her real life, her life as Sarah Forsyth - ended. Fed cocaine and cannabis, and forced at gunpoint to work as a prostitute in the Red Light District of Amsterdam: Sarah was a victim of sex trafficking.

Sarah Forsyth is a survivor. This is her heartbreaking story.

what a brave women

Shockingly eye-opening… i agree with the author its so far beyond what we care to imagine or what we want to believe is not true because it doesnt directly affect us.. i hope her her and others that her story can make even the slightest of impact on a decrepit part of this world ….

Gripping (terrifying) story

I couldn’t stop listening to this horror story… so sad but an amazing feat of survival. There’s a sequel… I desperately want to buy that as an audiobook too

Phoenix risen from the ashes

Ohh Sarah, how can anyone ever write a deep enough, empathic enough, moving enough review on your lifes' journey during these years that you physically and emotionally endured (and of course, emotionally still and always will endure). I feel every bit of everything you went through (I couldn't possibly write the list of what I felt as I know it would take up all the available characters left of the space here). I will be going to Amsterdam in Feb 25 and I'm scared, I'll be honest. I thank you so much for your words, for your time to write this moving biography and for helping to start the ball rolling for so many other women who are forced to do horrendous things. my heart goes out to you. you are a Survivor. You have become a Pillar Of Strength for other women. You are a Phoenix that rose up and spoke up. Thank-you xo

Highly Recommend

A very well written and narrated true story of an unfortunate life.
A survivor of something no one should experience.
Not just one thing but many things.
Many will feel grateful for the upbringing they had others may relate too to this story.
We aren’t always lucky in life.

Tragic

What this poor girl went through was just tragic. It's terrible to think how awful people treat people. Really hope her journey continues in a positive light. Thank you for sharing your story it must have taken a lot of courage.
