Mere poetisk og bevægende en titel kan man ikke tænke sig, når det er mindet, det gælder. Minder om mennesker, der for længst er døde, og stærke begivenheder, der, lige meget hvor stærke de end har været, blegner i erindringen. Livet er kun en drøm, kun skygger, og i en drøm bliver Afrika, der engang var så nærværende, kun til græsset, noget næsten anonymt ... En livsens taknemmelig og trofast bog.
