Publisher's Summary

Books 1, 2 and 3 in the SKULDUGGERY PLEASANT series – known collectively as THE FACELESS ONES TRILOGY, Derek Landy's fantastically imaginative series about our favourite dead detective.

SKULDUGGERY PLEASANT
Stephanie's uncle, Gordon, is a writer of horror fiction. But when he dies and leaves her his estate, Stephanie learns that while he may have written horror, it certainly wasn't fiction.

PLAYING WITH FIRE
With Serpine dead, the world is safe once more. At least, that’s what Valkyrie and Skulduggery think, until the notorious Baron Vengeous makes a bloody escape from prison, and dead bodies and vampires start showing up all over Ireland.

THE FACELESS ONES
Skulduggery Pleasant and his wonderfully cheeky and inquisitive side kick, Valkyrie, take us through another journey, which promises to be filled with adventure, dark, mysterious meetings, and classically funny moments.

Nostalgic and enjoyable listen

I grew up listening to these audiobooks on CD’s in the car, the story grips you, the characters are engaging, and it’s so easy to listen to repeatedly. The narration is vibrant and well produced, fitting the books perfectly, I know some wont enjoy the added music between chapters and books but I feel it’s fun and enhances the vibes. I may have my judgment clouded by nostalgia but I think anyone considering listening should give it a shot.

One of my favourites

My absolute favourite book series of all time, so it’s great to finally be able to hear it in audio form. The narrator has a very calming voice, which fits Skullduggery well. It’s a bit tricky with the female characters, as they seem to be quite squeaky and downright annoying at times. But overall, a good read.

Stunning 3 Books

I loved this series so much! It gripped me since the first book and I continued on to the 3rd. The story is wonderful and the narration was done super well. A must buy and a great deal for all.

A Pleasant series, that's for sure.

This is a fantastic series full witty characters, dry humour and magic. Derek is a fantastic author who draws you into the story and keeps you on the edge of your seat with every adventure. Robert Degas does a phenomenal execution of so many different characters.

A childhood favourite brought to life

I read these books cover to cover a number of times in my early teens and absolutely loved them to death. I recently started trying to hunt down a box set, and stumbled on the audiobook to tide me over until I could re read the series. The audiobook did far more than tide me over. The performances and reading are beyond fantastic, and for a book that I enjoyed in my early teens, the writing is still gripping and entertaining today in my mid 20’s. For any old or new fans of the Skulduggery Pleasant universe, I cannot recommend this audiobook series enough.

Story was amazing, but the performance wasn’t great.

The book is definitely better to read than to listen to.
The music/sound at the end of each chapter was awful and cringe.
They have excluded not as important parts of the story as well. For example Valkyrie never makes her reflection yet still interacts with her throughout the story.
The characters also sound nothing like I imagined them.
