Skibsrotten Tommy og hans venner Lester og Wilson forlader sejlskibet "Havmågen" og går i land i en lille havneby. Mens mørket sænker sig, går de på opdagelse i de sødtduftende gyder, og takket være Wilsons fine næse finder de hurtigt en lækker skinke.
