Publisher's Summary

Between being hunted by vampires and her inability to control her siren’s powers, all Adelle Constance wants is to be left alone. She didn’t count on meeting Jack, a cranky 900-year-old dragon who, despite her protests, vows to protect her. She also didn’t count on him being so deliciously attractive in that grumbling way.

Jack has no desire for a mate, yet somehow he's suckered into protecting a beautiful siren who can make things explode just by raising her voice. Reluctantly he takes the alluring Adelle under his wing, finding her quirky charms irresistible. And when angry vampires come to take her back, the dragon finds he’s not giving her up without a fight.

I really tried to like this book...

This book was in my Audible suggestions and after reading the reviews I was really excited to listen to the story. The reviews were the only reason I didn't return it after the first 10 minutes.
If I were being generous, I would assume it was meant for teenage readers. Otherwise I would just say it was poorly writren.
The characters emotions and responses were erratic and everyone "wags their finger" and "bites their lip".
Also, there is a "grumpy 900 year old dragon" who is a quick crier?
I listened for longer than I would like to admit hoping it would improve- it didn't.

Narrator was okay, there were times when I felt his inflection was obviously wrong, but I overlook those things if I am enjoying the story.

Returned.
