Publisher's Summary

Pilgrim seeks sinners for mutually beneficial arrangement. Tireless. Result-oriented. Reliable. Seven Deadlies a specialty.

On her 1,300 kilometre pilgrimage from Granada to Galicia, Ailsa Piper carried an unusual cargo. Walking in the tradition of medieval believers who paid others to carry their sins, Ailsa lugged a swag of confessions from friends, colleagues and strangers.

Although some days her load weighed heavy, Ailsa's story celebrates impossible kindnesses, the wonders of Spain and the simple but profound act of putting one foot in front of another for as long as it takes. Praying with her feet...

Audio exclusive: Ailsa Piper in conversation with Tony Doherty, coauthor of The Attachment: Letters from a Most Unlikely Friendship.

Camino Reflection

I liked the book. Sad and funny and frustrating- human.

I have long wanted to do the Camino but now even more

Fantabulous

Thoroughly enjoyed this book - the narration was amazing. I listened to this on my drive to Sydney and back and the descriptions Ailsa talks about you can see vividly. Very entertaining!

So very much in common.

I have read a number of Camino books ( I have walked the full Camino 4 times)but this with out doubt reflects the true story of the Camino it brings to life the daily wander towards Santiago, it reflects on the friendships found and lost on the Way, the kindness of the Spanish people. Well done your story bought back so so many memories of friends. Thank you from down Apollo Bay way. Waiting to walk my 5th.

A treasure that belies its initially curious title

Ailsa’s melodious voice is so easy to listen to, telling her own story.
A great story, offering new perspectives on walking a Camino.
I didn’t want to stop listening.

Overrated and no empathy for the main character

How can you have empathy for someone walking for other peoples sins when she spends time talking g about the guy she wanted to duck on the walk. Wonder what her husband thought? Good descriptions of walking just I couldn’t relate to her after this. The twenty minute discussion with the priest at the end is just so pompous
