About this listen

Two broken people in a city fueled by sin.

Maddie isn’t looking to be saved. She knows the only person you can count on is yourself. Her moral compass might not point true north these days - but at least she’s still standing.

The military taught Tyler about loyalty. Being there for your brothers is the only thing that matters - but when it mattered most, he wasn’t.

She’s got a ticket straight to hell. He’s already been there and back.

She needs to win. He just needs to stop fighting.

Some sins scar your soul so deeply, you'll never be the same.

But this devil in disguise might just be the angel he needs to forgive himself.

After College

Getting a degree is often the easy part. Finding a job afterwards is the hard part.
Living in a city where good money is necessary to exist, is almost impossible.
Maddie tries to be innovative and has good ideas on how to get ahead, but the follow through gets her into major trouble.
A ghost from her past turns up, and there is instant attraction, but again she is let down.

Fabulous Collaboration

Loved it! I wasn't sure what to expect as I had read quite a few of Julie's books before but this was the first time I had read any of Johnathan's work so ... the collaboration works so well, you don't feel like you are reading a section written by one person and then another by someone else, it's seamless. The story - intriguing, the characters - likeable and I need to see where this goes so eagerly anticipating book 2.

Sexy & intriguing

Took me till maybe chapter 3 to get into this one but it was worth it. A very sexy & intriguing book but ending? Or not ending must look for book 2.

Wow! just wow

I love this story - two damaged souls navigating life. I can't wait to hear the rest of the story in the next few books. The narration is excellent - especially Tad as Tyler. JA Huss and Johnathan together are a powerful writing duo. love all their collaborative works so far. bring on more

well what a mixture

I struggled immensely with the 1st 12 chapters or so. I let it play while I worked listening with half an ear as it didn't grab me, especially the opening chapter....then the hero keeps going off on a tangent in his head, checks himself, says he's rambling and I respond out loud"damn right you are!" his humour and persona does not gel with me and I was frustrated.
Where this book was heading, I thought , needed depth, brooding and dark sadness as that's what's been portrayed before but these authors show the toughness of a hero trying to act out like he's ok and nothing is out of place.
it was different for me to read a different take on something that's been delivered up timelessly.
however I was frustrated and just wanted the story to forge ahead so needless to say 3 or 4 times I nearly gave it up.
the heroine I got and I rode with her all the way and even though she obviously crossed into the heroes life I was wondering how the hell were these different tones of characters going to come together.
I know ground work has to be laid especially in a series but I've read series books before and the ground work there held my interest. so again in say I was frustrated and listened with half an ear......then chapter 17 hits....holy shit!!!!!!
for me, chapter 1 becomes abundantly clear and the tone of the male hero finally meshes with the words written not to mention parallels with the heroine.
now I'm hooked!!!!!
spoiler alert.....I didn't know narrator tad Branson was Jonathon McClain the co author.
so if your listening and feeling bored...hang in there is what I say, I'm on to book 2 which I'm pretty sure will hook me up for a bloody good journey.

totally awesome

I totally loved this book. Tyler is my favorite character, both Johnathan and Julie did an amazing job writing this and I hope they do more in the future.

Unsure how I feel about this book

Great characters, great sex scenes but the story was predictable. I was able to pick the connection between the characters in about chapter 3. I like to be shocked caught off guard if you will.
