Publisher's Summary
A mile wide and with winds rising over 200 miles per hour, the EF-5 tornado that laid waste to Joplin, Missouri, took everything from Dale Kinsel. Already struggling to get through the months after the death of her partner Sydney, Dale doesn't believe she can find the strength to dig through the rubble.
The last thing she needs is Sydney's sister, Taren, crossing her path again. There is nothing but bad blood between them and Taren's help doesn't change that. Surrounded by a broken landscape, Dale has little hope of reclaiming even the simple pleasures. But life—and love—have a way of starting over.
Contains mature themes.

An insight into ptsd and love and destructive behaviours.
I enjoyed this book. I looked up the Tornado that devastated Joplin and other areas. As an Aussie who has been thru both cyclones and severe bush fires I could relate. What we see on TV coverage can never ever give you any idea of what it’s like to hear that “freight train”, the terror it brings and the shock in the aftermath. The PTSD is real.
I do wish that writers would limit or eliminate the self serving characters like Zoe in this book. Or better yet have someone stand up to them to stop their meddling destructive behaviours.
Time could have been spend delving further into the relationship between Dale and Taryn without the Zoe component.

Good overall:)
AC nails in as usual. Love her voice and style of narration.
The story was good and actually made me go and research the tornado that hit Joplin. KW descriptions are steeped in reality. Reading then seeing the devastation caused to the suburbs and also the Home Depot was stark, and made me appreciate KW's story. Although, I felt many of the characters surrounding Dale and her loss were very unempathetic and inconsiderate, which frustrated me to bits. The MC's were well written and mostly likeable, although, I didn't feel the journey from like to love very clearly...it seemed to happen very quickly. I prefer not to read books with butch or more masculine female leads as they don't appeal to me, as such Dale sounded like a desperate, oversexed jock to me at times, which put me off a little, but overall (and due to AC's narration) she was endearing and likeable. It was difficult to decipher masculine/feminine traits from the sample audio and thought I may not enjoy the story once I realised how the charcter was developing. This was not the case.

Tornado to love
There’s parts of Kenna White’s books that always touch the reader’s heart. This is a story of redemption and finding love again. The tornado that destroyed parts of Joplin leaves behind more than devastated buildings. There’s the PTSD of the survivors. Abby Craden’s narration once more pulls the listener into the thick of the story. She brings to life the written words with such emotion that you are totally immersed in the protagonist’s journey.
