About this listen
Detective Anna Travis is up for promotion, but with her boss DCI James Langton accusing her of professional misconduct, this latest case could make or break her.
Shortly after the announcement of a tell-all memoir, a young film star is found dead. With careers at stake and secrets to hide, almost everyone has a motive to kill.
From jealous ex-flatmates to famous lovers, Langton and his team are confronted with a vast array of suspects, keen to keep their secrets close to their chests. As the extensive enquiry reveals the sad truth behind the victim's successful façade, Anna's place in the team seems ever more uncertain.

Finished with Lynda La Plante
I’ve pushed through with this Anna Travis series, but I have to stop now.
The narration is very good and the story about the crime is good but the constant belittling of Anna by Langton, coupled with Anna several times declaring to be over Langton only to be confused about her feelings again literally the next time she interacts with him, saying in one breath she is over him then in the next she will always have feeling for him is extremely frustrating. I found myself rolling my eyes thinking ‘this again!’.
Overall, I’m left with Langton saying to Anna- ‘but what does that give us?????????’ Replaying in my mind. Not a great book.
