About this listen
The first sexy, captivating, standalone novel in the brand-new Fight for Me series from NYT and USA Today best-selling author A.L. Jackson....
Rex Gunner. As bitter as he is beautiful.
The owner of the largest construction company in Gingham Lakes has been burned one too many times. His wife leaving him to raise their daughter was the last blow this single dad could take. The only woman he'll let into his heart is his little girl.
Rynna Dayne. As vulnerable as she is tempting.
She ran from Gingham Lakes when she was 17. She swore to herself she would never return. Then her grandmother passed away and left her the deed to the diner that she once loved.
When Rex meets his new neighbor, he knows he's in trouble.
She's gorgeous and sweet and everything he can't trust.
Until she becomes the one thing he can't resist.
One kiss sends them tumbling toward ecstasy.
But in a town this size, pasts are bound to collide. Caught in a web of lies, betrayal, and disloyalty, Rex must make a choice.
Will he hide behind his walls or will he take the chance....

Amazing!
4.5 stars! You can always count on AL Jackson to deliver on angsty stories chock full of FEELS with lovable characters! SHOW ME THE WAY is an emotionally charged story that sucked me in right from the start! I loved Rex, Rynna and of course the adorable Frankie Leigh!
My qualms which made me rate this 4.5 instead of 5 was the trademark AL Jackson narrative - the repetition of words, and the annoying “nicknames” that is also repeated (“little thief”). And also it irked me that the hero and heroine’s past secrets are always dragged out and only revealed later on.
Despite my qualms though, this story was still AMAZING! I loved the audio team of Andi Ardnt and Zachary Webber!

great read
I loved Frankie so muuuuuch. that kid was like sunshine whenever her her dialogue was on, I loved how genuine and innocent she is and how her dad interacts with her and is ao patient while also dealing with his demons. Enter the little thief of his misery and I loved watching Rex grow with her around, with her cherry pies and being there for the two of them through thick and thin. I gotta say, that plot twist sure just showed how ugly some people are but seeing good win in the end just made the story so well rounded. its well paced and full of sad as is the sunshine.

Barely saved by narrators
Honestly, I prefer my romance books more realistic, even as fantasy-based genre. I used my fast forward button frequently to jump past too much flowery speech/introspective thoughts. I even cringed through the lovemaking scenes with the flowery dialogue they somehow managed to have during supposedly hot sex. no one talks like that. I found the drama too over the top with the historical and present exes. I did enjoy the kid though, and strangely thought the male narrator did her best. the female narrator was good, not great. her tone towards the end of her sentences is a little odd, lije she was saying something ironic, when it clearly isn't. really glad I didn't spend much on this one.

Not as good as others
I usually love AL Jackson books, even if heart wrenching most of the time. This one just didn’t have the grip on my like her previous ones. I’ll still listen to the next in the series once released, more so to hopefully get to know the answer to the Sydney mystery. This one was a bit predictable really too.
