About this listen

Dave Burrows returns in a compelling new novel of rural suspense from Voice of the Outback Fleur McDonald.

Detective Dave Burrows has longed for the top job in the Stock Squad but never thought he'd be acting in that role while his partner and best mate, Detective Bob Holden, is treated for melanoma.

Bob is keen to get back on the road and Dave can't wait to go bush either, expecting the trip will be much the same as usual.

But the trip doesn't play out that way.

Multiple bomb blasts in the small country town of Kallygarn send shock waves through the state of WA, and Dave and Bob are once again drawn into the underworld of crime.

Loved from the start to finish! Have not read a book that I haven’t been glued to written by Fleur. Great writer.

Young Dave's continued story.

I had to get used to the reader as I have read the previous 22 novels, twice, and had my own imagined voices 🥴 This was my first ever audible book. Couldn't wait 'til my hard copy, which was ordered way back, arrived. 😏
I found it a little harder to follow the story in the earlier chapters but by the end I had adjusted so am keen to find another author to follow as I await Fleurs next wonderful book.

Another ripper from Fleur McDonald

Dave Burrows is a favourite character of mine. His stories are believable. I love how he isn't perfect, but he is working through his flaws. I hope there will be many more of his stories.
Lani Tupou's voice is soothing but real. I also hope he continues being Dave's voice.

Good story

I found the narration irritating. The wrong emphasis on syllables and words. Pauses in the wrong places, very annoying to listen to
