About this listen
Being raised in the foster system has made Kinley Taylor feel like a lifelong outcast, but it's witnessing a young girl's last few minutes on Earth that proves just how alone she truly is. Kinley has no one to turn to, no family, no friends...except perhaps the gorgeous Delta Force soldier she met months ago. The one she ignored when he'd tried to keep in touch, convinced he couldn't really be interested in a relationship.
When Kinley ghosts him not once, but twice, Gage "Lefty" Haskins takes the hint. Clearly the pretty personal assistant didn't feel the same connection he did. Or so he assumes...until she shows up in Texas, on the run for her life after already surviving an assassination attempt. Lefty couldn't turn her away even if he wanted to - and he doesn't. The longer he knows her, the greater the connection he feels. He just has to keep Kinley alive long enough to convince her she's The One.
Easier said than done, when the man who wants her dead has friends in high places...and a very patient hit man on retainer.
Shielding Kinley is the second book in the Delta Team Two Series. Each book is a standalone, with no cliffhanger endings.
NOTE: The word "expect" in the first paragraph was changed to "except".

Another Susan Stoker Winner
Be prepared for Lefty and Kinsley to put your heart through its paces! I loved Kinsley's character, her uncertainty and fears are something many of us can relate to. Lefty is one of my favourite Susan Stoker heroes to date. He is tender and in touch with his emotions. I enjoy an obvious Alpha hero but Lefty combined his alpha tendencies with tenderness, understanding and a very cute relationship with his mother. Virginia Rose does an amazing job of the narration once again. Five stars all round!

Adored this book!
This is the first book I’ve read where the character is so similar to myself as an autistic woman. I have always been the outsider and the weirdo, but the way Kinley was loved and accepted for all of her differences, was so heartwarming. I will reread this many times over. Thankyou Susan Stoker!!

my least liked
love Ms Stokers stories and her earlier series where absolutely awesome but this one, out of all the ones I've read is the least liked. I'm not a lover of innocent women as the heroine, it was disappointing, i prefer sassy women. And although the heroine was becoming stronger, she wasnt the type i like to read about. For the first time Susan didn't give the hero enough emotion, especially due to the special relationship the main characters both shared .
i thought the semi climax part of the book would have gone into emotional overdrive but to me, neither of the main characters connected with their heart and the hero, well he did some weird stuff In times of crisis. I felt he had been written in the same persona as his heroine counterpart...not strong enough in character for me...even though he's a delta.
it got a bit far fetched at times and I struggled not to eye roll and although we jumped fwd in time in places, I still felt it stretched on a bit too long.
sadly this story sank in the "great" department. triumph and despair see-sawed but not in a coherent, natural Susan stoker type of way.
sorry Ms Stoker this got jumbled and it was almost in the " I'm going to fast fwd stage"....It was trending towards messy in places... an up and down roller coaster ride, but not gut wrenching like most of your other books. Of course, it won't stop me from reading more though but I really prefer your black ops storyline.
Virginia did well like she has before, but after reading the first in the hawaii series with Jacob and Emma's narration, solo with Virginia or Stella doesn't come close.
This storyline was home grown and started well but too many indecisive decisions followed by about turn decisiveness left me frowning on more than 1 occasion. If you like the quieter and not so edgy plotline along with quiet achiever type main characters, then this is for you.
I'm still loving the "badge of honour" series the most
