About this listen

It is 1895, and Sherlock Holmes’s new client is a High Court judge, whose free-spirited daughter has disappeared without a trace.

Holmes and Watson discover that the missing woman—Hannah Woolfson—was herself on the trail of a missing person, her close friend Sophia. Sophia was recruited to a group known as the Elysians, a quasi-religious sect obsessed with Ancient Greek myths and rituals, run by the charismatic Sir Philip Buchanan. Hannah has joined the Elysians under an assumed name, convinced that her friend has been murdered. Holmes agrees that she should continue as his agent within the secretive yet seemingly harmless cult, yet Watson is convinced Hannah is in terrible danger. For Sir Philip has dreams of improving humanity through classical ideals, and at any cost …

Engaging, Haunting but Inspiring

James Lovegrove and Dennis Kleinman yet again do justice to the legacy of Sherlock Holmes.
I have now listened to much which Lovegrove has offered expanding narrative, and the complexity and history he has woven into this addition makes this my favourite so far. Being a fan of ancient history as well as detective mystery, combining the two was artfully done. Well done indeed!

Kleinman again, does an excellent job of narration. His voice internation and pacing make him as pleasure to listen to for hours.

Twisting storyline

Lovegrove is keeping the spirit of the great detective alive with this thought provoking tale. Holmes and Watson are accompanied in their detecting by a female confederate on the inside in this story. I’m so doing various unique emotions etc are displayed to keep the reader intrigued. A great read.

Hits the Spot - Fantastic Storyline

The best of Lovegrove Sherlock stories. Really hits the spot for those who’re looking for more of Holmes after finishing the classics.

Really brings out the twists we miss from the originals. Would have loved to have spent more time with Sherlock and maybe some future novels with multiple mysteries in short story format from Lovegrove would be amazing.

I hope Lovegrove focuses more on thrilling Sherlock mysteries and moves away from trying to bring the Supernatural into the Holmes Universe.

Hope we get more of these and look forward to Manifestations coming soon.

I hope Audible takes note and connects with Lovegrove and Stephen Fry to create an Audible Original series!
