About this listen

The demon has been defeated and the Kingdom rejoices as the threat to the existence of every living thing on Midkemia has passed, but out of the ashes of war new problems arise, in the brilliant sequel to Rage of a Demon King…

The demon is no more…

The enemy has been routed, yet peace still eludes the Kingdom. Midkemia lies in smouldering ruins following the Demon King’s siege. Many lives have been lost, including that of the brave James, Duke of Krondor.

As the people turn their hands to rebuilding their once great nation, a new threat arises from the ashes of war: the fearsome Fadawah, former Commanding General of the Army of the Emerald Queen. He has grasped the fallen reins of command and seeks to forge a personal empire out of the wreckage of the Western Realm.

And so it falls to two young men – Jimmy and Dash – grandsons of the late Duke, to gather together the shards of the broken crown and resurrect the Kingdom to its former glory.

Shards of a Broken Crown is the fourth and concluding book of the Serpentwar Saga.

Absolutely love this series!

Each installment has a gripping story with characters you quickly care about and sad to leave when the particular series ends. Very clever twists and never a dull moment.
Peter Joyce is now my favourite narrator with unique and believable character voices. He would be my pick to take over from the late Roy Doltrice (RIP) to narrate the final books of Game of Thrones.

Magnificent

This is a journey, reminiscent of the Lord of the Rings. The character building and evolution is engaging and deep. It hits home, humanising all participants to a level of intimate understanding of their social interactions, loves, responsibilities, fears and expectations. Masterfully recounted by a narrator, that is able to embody the personalty of each character. Thank you both!

Just an okay conclusion.

I think this story dragged on a little compared to the other books in the series. I wish Patrick got his comeuppance. :(

The serpent war saga is epic.

The serpent war saga is epic. This book ties up everything in the previous books nicely and still leaves enough UN finished to make u hope there is more. Would recommend 10/10 for anyone who is interested in the workings of the universe through a tale that has good fantasy to make it all verry styleised, in a way that keeps u hole heartedly intereged.
