About this listen

German armies once more march across Europe, and one small Welsh village is changed forever.

Carrie has escaped the suffocating, unhealthy love of her brother. With her innate kindness and strength, she begins her new life in midwifery. But the shadows of war rise.

She is sent first to Birmingham and then to London during the Blitz. Carrie is no stranger to tragedy, but her courage and self-sacrifice bond her tightly to new friends and old, helping to keep her safe in uncertain times. Love, laughter, and friendship abound, making her a force to be reckoned with and admired.

John, however, is forced to rethink his position on the family farm and to try and rid himself of his obsession for his sister. Feeling as though his heart has been ripped out, it is Ernie who steadfastly gives John wisdom and help. When a young village girl enters his life, things take a surprising turn. The taciturn young man finally finds peace, despite the burgeoning war.

The Llewellyn family and their friends live through a time of upheaval, tragedy, and the fear of the unknown with determination and justifiable pride. The tears and joy of brave men who face war, blend perfectly with the women who become the backbone of British nationhood.

In this uncertain world, Carrie eventually realizes that love is not always so far from your homestead and she too finds happiness.

Shadows on the Moon is the compelling, continuing saga of the Llewellyn family and will catapult you once more into Welsh life with the same passion as Whispers on the Wind.

About the author: This is Elizabeth Revill's fourth novel and is set in an area she knows intimately. Proud of her Welsh heritage and with Welsh-speaking parents, Elizabeth spent much of her childhood there. She qualified in English, Speech, and Drama, before moving onto drama school and embarking on a career as an actress and winning the coveted Carlton Hobbs Award from the BBC.

Publishing comments: With Carrie's continuing journey, we live with her through some frightening times as WWII breaks out. Life changes forever on the farm and in the village. Their lives are what makes these books so beautiful, we laugh with them, cry with them and celebrate some real joys in their company. This is a wonderful sequel.
