About this listen

It's been seven years since Lexi Knight lost her brother in a tragic accident. On the anniversary of his death, her brother's best friend shows up unexpectedly - a man she hasn't seen since the funeral. He is no longer the boy Lexi once knew, but a dangerous-looking man with tattoos and dark secrets. He broke her trust and abandoned her family, yet what he reveals makes it impossible to stay angry.

Lexi has been secretly infatuated with Austin since childhood, so finding out he's a Shifter just makes him sexier. Dammit. Austin Cole has returned to the city where he grew up, and just in time. He's lived a hard life these past seven years, and the shadows of his past are threatening to destroy Lexi's family. It's time that she learned the truth about her brother, but there is a shocking twist that Austin never saw coming. Now he must protect her family when her mother and sister wind up in mortal danger. Will Lexi learn to accept the truth about who he is, and can Austin salvage a relationship from the ruins of their past?

Good listen!

The story was pretty good overall, engaging all the way through. The narration is excellent which can be hard to come by sometimes. Even though it’s a female narrator, the male voices were very well done. Keen to explore the other books in the series. Definitely recommend!

Enjoyable listen

I thought it was pretty good. Storyline was great mostly, though fell a little flat in a few spots. My first Dannika Dark read/listen, so keen to hear another to see where the story goes. Characters are likeable and narrator did a great job!

***A soap opera***

if i like a soap opera type story than u wud love this one. heavy on the drama but hardly any actions a few suspenseful moments and the sexy scense barely exists. I am disappointed becauae i thought it wud be more like Suzanne Wright's books but not at all.
Nicole Poole she a food narrator but i don't like how she she portrays Austin. he sounds like a nerd.

Great read

This was a fairly gentle listen that’s a different take on the shifter world. Just what I needed, not overly done. A story that didn’t need all the bells and whistles to be enjoyable. Would recommend xx

Had me hooked

From start to finish this was easily one of my favourites. There's a build up to the good stuff but honestly so worth it. The way the voice over did her performance it was so easy to distinguish different characters. So worth your time especially if you've heard the bayou shifter series

It's a whole new world

This was the first of Dannika's books that I listened to. I found it easy to slip into this world of supernatural beings. Dannika has a talent for making the characters feel like someone you know, as though they are lounging around in your living room as they give lip to one another. And the books only get better.

Start of what looks to be a great series

This is the first book by this author I have read. And I really enjoyed it.
I am looking forward to the next books -- I'm definitely going to be getting them :)
My old negative it some of the voices were too alike and some grated on my nerves.
But the story was good and I loved the cheesy lines -- I had a sense of nostalgia like I almost felt like it was a book I read in my teen years tho I know I haven't.

Well written series. Love the Narration

The whole series so far is a very good listen. Story is a little predictable, but has still kept my interest throughout. The Narrator has really grown on me, I find her voice so soothing.
