About this listen

Richard Rohr leads us through the social, political and environmental setting out of which Matthew brought Christ’s radical message of a new world order. He explains Matthew’s challenge to let go of the conventional wisdom that comes with contemporary American culture. Each of seven talks brings us closer to the heart of the Sermon.

Rohr contrasts conventional wisdom with the wisdom of Christ and draws the listener into the Kingdom of God, the end of the world and the experience of enlightenment. He explains that each generation lives in end times, that the Kingdom is for those willing to let go of all cultural idolatry (past and present) and that those who live in reality travel a path of life which unfolds into freedom. This series is a powerful call to follow Jesus Christ in the commandments of the New Testament.

WHAT AN EXPERIENCE

To complete this review I was forced to rate performance and story with stars. Not needed in this case. in this case. I just finished listening to Fr. Richard talking to me about the Sermon on the Mount.
Now I just sit here , speechless. I had a wonderful experience that can only be expressed by one word: " WOW !" Thank you Fr. Richard.

Simply life changing

If you are new to Richard Rohr, listen to these lectures first. They are a brilliant introduction to the rich, profound and uplifting world of one of the most significant spiritual teachers of our times. You will get to hear his warm voice, his sense of humour and his enthusiasm, which will give you a sense of who Richard Rohr is as a person as well, clearly someone who is full of light; that light shines through his words and his voice. Listening to this audiobook is such a warm, beautiful and enlightening experience.

Great context to what Jesus The Christ taught

Now to let it sink in, transform me, and how I experience The Kingdom.

Great message but poor delivery

Richard Rohr is a very good teacher but the way he concludes almost every statement with 'right?, 'huh?' or 'mm?' became so irritating that I struggled to stay with it. I think he is better when just reading the text in this medium rather than addressing a live audience. I have read several of his books and they are mostly very good but this was disappointing.

Finally someone who makes sense

Love the socio economic context which helped me break from a one dimensional reading of the gospel.

For the first time the Sermon on the Mount made sense. I wasn't conflicted with self judgement as I read it as law.

Really a big blow to my ego that's for sure, and I am glad. Richard's gentle approach disarms my ego who wants a fight when I see anything outside of black and white.
But his way with words really bring peace to my soul, an inner yearning of "Yes this is the truth I was thirsting for".
