About this listen
This is not a self-help book or a memoir. It's definitely not the Australian Devil Wears Prada.
In her collection of autobiographical essays, fashion magazine editor Justine Cullen takes us on a hilariously candid exploration of her life so far - and all the mistakes she’s made along the way.
Semi-Gloss is an intimate, sharp and witty look at growing up and growing older from the kind of woman who looks like she has it all together - the glamorous job, the perfect family, the killer wardrobe. But, chipping away at that shiny, sparkly surface, Justine reveals the beautiful mess that lies beneath.
A wildly entertaining and sometimes bumpy ride through a life well-lived, by one of Australia's most respected female voices.

My only criticism is that it was too short.
I genuinely loved this book. It was juicy, entertaining, funny, and as relatable as it could be for someone who grew up in the same city, in the same years as Justine, but only ever dreamt of the life she lived to the full. I hope she writes another 🤞🏻

I could relate to Justine so much!
I really enjoyed reading the ebook (a few years ago) & listening to it.
Being so close in age to Justine, I understood all her references. Really loved hearing all about being a beauty editor & the lifestyle that came with it. Every girls dream job back in the day! Looking back, I think I should’ve done my work experience somewhere exciting, instead of a at a local supermarket with my high school buddy. But we had a lot of fun!
I also had a very close bond with my Nana, who passed away recently & I could really relate to Justine about this and so much more.
This book was full of real-life ups and downs, so different to the curated lives we see these days. Would definitely recommend!

Semi gloss
It was ok, that was it really.
Her writing is like a school kids essay using a thesaurus, throwing all the long descriptive words in which was overkill.
Really boring at the end
Wouldn’t recommend
