About this listen

Best-selling author Julia Quinn flawlessly combines passionate romance with "pitch perfect humor" ( Publishers Weekly).

Miranda Cheever has been blessed with many things, but great beauty is not among them. Still, when she meets Viscount Tuner, she knows she is meant for him. As the years go by, fate is as kind to Miranda as it is harsh on the Viscount. He's skeptical about love with good reason - but he may be falling for Miranda.

Good Read

Loved the story, excellent. Not a favourite narrator. A well written and engaging novel, highly recommend to others.

Such a lovely story

I enjoyed the story, which was quite predictable but it was lovely nonetheless.
To be honest I struggled with narration as it was quite droll and slow. I shifted the speed to 1.2 and it was still quite slow. Having listened to many Julia Quinn books I found this narration challenging. Miranda sounded very simple and yet she was far from simple. Turner sounded dry and again simple and yet was far more complex. I do not think there was enough intonation between the characters. If you have listened to the more recent Julia Quinn, you may have a complete difference of opinion.

Review

I like the author and the way she writes. I have heard the Bridgerton series, smythe-smith series, and the prequel to bridgerton series. They were all narrated by Roslyn landor. The narration was much better than that of this book. Personally didn’t like the way this book was narrated. It was a bit dry. I prefer a narration that is with more emotion. The story was good and it would have been better, if narrated in a better way

Just as good as the others

It took a while to get use to a different narrator and the audio quality isn’t as good. But all the same, I was sucked into a world where I could visualise everything as if I was there.

The male lead is an ahole

listening to this just made me angry. I kept waiting for the male lead to do something - anything - redeeming. he didn't. he was a total ahole from chapter 2 onwards. Miranda deserves better.

thoroughly enjoyable

This is probably one of my favourites by Julia Quinn. I adored Miranda's character and found her story engaging. Bravo to the narrator who didn't merely read the book but instead gave a splendid performance with narration and characterisations. i wish she would narrate more regency and historical romances. I highly recommend.

Narration detracted from the story

I love Julia Quinn’s novels but this was disappointing. I think it was mostly the narration that detracted from the experience. Could just be a preference thing on my part but I found it difficult.
