Publisher's Summary
Stan Weir is mourning a tragic loss when he meets a mysterious nine-year-old girl, who claims to be the reincarnated spirit of his late wife. Marcy Keef is a single mother trying to make ends meet when her daughter Erin starts describing 'past life memories'. Neither wants to believe Erin, but as violent secrets are revealed, the truth becomes harder to deny.
With echoes of Stephen King, Second Skin is a propulsive thriller about grief, guilt and truths better left unknown.

Great concept but the last third felt very rushed
I liked the characters, the concept and the story telling. I felt that the last third of the book was rushed. I would have loved it to have unfolded with a bit more tension.

Not sure how I feel
I mostly enjoyed the story but the end really let it down. The narrator was really good and easy to listen to.

Thoroughly engaging story, if maybe a tad rushed.
Was definitely hooked in right from the beginning and actually felt attached to the characters. The tragedy of the story and the emotions it invoked in the characters easily spilt through into my own, which takes some pretty decent writing to achieve, as well as some heavy subject matter, something this story has both of. The narrator has an excellent voice for reading and was very pleasant to listen too, but occasionally she would pronounce a name weirdly or read a line of dialogue in what felt like the entirely wrong tone for it. And there was one sentence in the book where a description was repeated twice, in a needless and identical way, but I couldn't say whether that was an error of the author or the narrator. Surprised no one picked it up though.
