Publisher's Summary

A collection of humorous autobiographical essays by the Academy Award-nominated actress and star of Up in the Air and Pitch Perfect.

"I'm excited to publish my first book, and because I get uncomfortable when people have high expectations, I'd like to use this opportunity to showcase my ineptitude and pettiness and the frequency with which I embarrass myself. And while many of my female inspirations who have become authors are incredibly well educated and accomplished comedy writers, I'm very, very funny on Twitter, according to BuzzFeed and my mom, so I feel like this is a great idea. Quick question: Are run-on sentences still frowned upon? Wait, is ending a sentence with a preposition still frowned upon? I mean, upon frowned? Dammit!" (Anna Kendrick)

Anna Kendrick's autobiographical collection of essays amusingly recounts memorable moments throughout her life, from her middle-class upbringing in New England to the blockbuster movies that have made her one of Hollywood's most popular actresses today. Expanding upon the witty and ironic dispatches for which she is known, Anna Kendrick's essays offer her one-of-a-kind commentary on the absurdities she's experienced on her way to and from the heart of pop culture.

Critic Reviews

"Actress Anna Kendrick narrates her wry and witty collection of autobiographical essays about growing up in Portland, Maine.... Her quick pace, sometimes sarcastic tone, and unmistakably familiar voice enhance funny and shrewd reflections on her ordinary girl's life." ( AudioFile)

Amazing!

Would you consider the audio edition of Scrappy Little Nobody to be better than the print version?

I haven't read the print version of the book, but I honestly don't want to! Having Anna read it to you, makes it so freaking awesome! You feel like she's just sitting next to you, having a beer and telling all kinds of funny stories. She's the f'ed up friend you wish you had :-D

What was one of the most memorable moments of Scrappy Little Nobody?

All of it! Don't make me choose!

Which scene did you most enjoy?

Again, not possible to pick just one!

If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Ya think you're betta than me?!

Any additional comments?

Just do yourself a favour and get this. It's totally worth everything! I mean, Anna Kendrick screams at you and you'll love it ;-)

Scrappy Fun All the Way

Bring it on you crazy bitch! Pretty much sums it up. I'd only seen a few of her movies and picked up this audio because she actually wrote and made an effort to read it. I appreciated the honesty and was quite surprised about the extra layer of honesty we got. I was like one of those old people thinking, 'Can she say that?'. It was a joy to listen to and bonus cheese for her really bringing it with the reading; just gave it that much more depth. Didn't delve too much into specific movies, but that's not what it's about. Overall, I'd recommend it to anyone who is even remotely interested in her or hearing a good yarn about getting into the biz. And someone needs to update her Wikipedia to include an 'Author' credit.

Absolutely hilarious, and very down to Earth.

I'm so glad Anna narrated this herself, I feel like I have actually met her now. Which is kinda cool.

Highly recommend

Loved it, very humorous, entertaining, raw and engaging. An interesting insight into her life. I would highly recommend this book, especially because she is a starving artist.

Really fun!

Hilarious, loved her narration... So full of energy and humour, just like she's right there with you recounting funny anecdotes from her past.

F&@$ yeah!

This book is my inner monologue minus the celebrity life style. I love Anna Kendrick the author! This book is as she states (hopes) like a conversation with her where she does all the talking. I laughed a lot!
