About this listen

Fans of Robert Jordan and George R. R. Martin alike have found a new champion of epic fantasy in Brandon Sanderson. And now, in the first of two sequels to The Alloy of Law, the Sunday Times and New York Times best-selling author returns to the world of Mistborn.

It is more than 300 years after the events of the The Final Empire shaped Scadrial. Waxillium Ladrian has returned to the capital city of Elendel from the far-flung roughs.

Elendel is crisscrossed by canals and railways, and towers reach for the sky, but this is still a city of dangers and of magic; Allomancy and Feruchemy can still change the world. Wax faces many more adventures.

Sanderson is a master of rich worlds, appealing characters and gripping plots, and his return to Mistborn shows him at the height of his powers.

Just more awesome

Bringing original Mistborn trilogy lore back into this future "present" piece was great. Fantastic utilisation of established story history. Another great ride with great characters and great performance.

Episodic Joy

I'm enjoying Wax & Wayne so far, the over arching story is building yet the smaller episodic stories within are a nice conclusion at the end of each book without having to feel like there's a multi book slog to get to the end.

Cliff Hanger Ending

I did not see that ending coming. I can’t wait to read/listen to the next in the series. Brandon Sanderson pulled me into a new world with the first three books of this series. I was so wrapped up in the characters and storyline’s of the first three books that I struggled to start the fourth and fifth. It took me a year to emotionally prepare myself for new characters and the new world in these subsequent books haha. But I’ve really enjoyed these books now, I love the contrast between Wax and Wayne’s characters. I really didn’t think Sanderson’s world of divine and human interaction could become more intricate and yet...here I am chomping at the bit to read the next in the series! 👏🏽

Intense

Just Fantastic Wax and Wayne's antics take on a more intense and dark side in this sequel and it's really refreshing. looking forward to the sequel!

Shadows of self

Brandon Sanderson keeps getting better and better . This has to be one of my favourite novels. The characters are so sophisticated and realistic.

Excellent! More entertaining than the first three

Like Alloy Of Law, this book was more entertaining to me than the first three Mistborn novels. Obviously this is personal preference but I can say it was a brilliant read regardless.

And the saga continues to draw me in. annoyed tho

I really love this saga but don't like it when the editing chops off words that should be there. it's like Simone forgot what they had to say. hmmmm let's how the next book doesn't have this happening. I really do like the book.

The detective series of the mistborn books

A great series but smaller than the first era mistborn books. this book series is best read after the first 3 books but is not required as Brandon Sanderson does a great job of explaining the world in a way that's informative but does not drag on for readers that know the past. this could best be described as a western, detective and magic.

Great second book in the Wax & Wayne series

An even better storyline than the first book and a little more humour too. 5/5!
