Great story that lost track

I loved the first two books, however this one spent more time describing food, pointless family members and religious views than actual sci-fi. More than half the book could have been edited out with the same final result. It makes up for it in the last 1/4 but only just.

Gripping

A tale that continues the life and times of Captain Holden and his crew. The new characters that populate the story and the increasing familiarization with established player add new depth to the story. Each chapter leaves you wanting to know what happens next and the ever changing perspective keeps it fresh and engaging. It's classic space opera with genuine Herod and villains and mysterious aliens. Can't wait to start the next in the series.

If you could sum up Abaddon's Gate in three words, what would they be?

This was a great continuation of the first 2 books. Overall it was a great book to listen to. I think it's probably the best book so far, but it was a little slow at parts.

Great Book but the chapters don't have titles

Loved this book as the show didn't explore this book as much as I expected it to but the fact that this book doesn't have chapter titles so you can't see who's perspective is next is a little annoying

this series never fails to keep me hooked. and the reading is just as great.

excellent but one important contemporary element m

as a hard sci-fi fan of old I thoroughly enjoyed listening to these books. Corey covers all the elements of good hearts are hard sci-fi projecting social trends and technological trends, and speculating on the nature of aliens. I was however very disappointed that he brushes over the development of birth bound energy by dismissing renewables in favour of fusion. it completely ignores the very complex synergies of decentralized energy production and distribution systems. it kind of marks in down as just been a status quo sci fi space opera brighter.

Sci fi earning it's keep

The expanse series is a great example of science fiction making a contribution by being thoughtful and imaginative. The contribution cones from the plausibility of the social and technological possibilities that are fuel for serious thought about our world as it is now. And if that isn't enough there's plenty of action and humour to keep you reading. actually to be serious again even the action and humour make their contribution to the serious side.

wow.

I wan't sure if I loved this series and it's author's writing style or if I was just enjoying it's wonderful idea's. Turns out it is both.
It is excellent. A universe that seems huge, scary and exciting. A solar system that is palpable. Filled with, and run by, humanity and our fears, greed and compssion. Characters that are immensely human and real.
i like it so much I wrote a review. i have never done this before.

Narration FTW

Jefferson Mays is my all time favourite narrator. The combination of his voice and best ever written space opera series The Expanse makes for time well spent, even if it’s my 5 time listening to all 9 books.
