Practical, achievable advice
I came across Bruce Schneier's name in a Darknet Diaries' episode with the quote “You can't defend. You can't prevent. The only thing you can do is detect and respond.” This is consistent with my own experience having lost over a million $ in 14+ years trying to retain first, then regain my ability to earn a salary in Melbourne, Australia in spite of ongoing, devastating crimes against me by a stalker ex-coworker, whom I never even dated. Bruce Schneier's honest assessment of what we can expect in cyber-space was very refreshing for me. This book, like his other publications contains wise, caring advice like a good friend or a teacher would give. I am finding his books not just helpful, but also soothing. What is happening to me, what I experience is known, and there are ways to make coping easier even if there is no chance of stopping cyber-criminals at least in Australia. I wish I had found his works earlier.
